MY04 or MY02 wheels
I jut bought my car and it came with winter tires which I will use 3-4 months of the year. I'm looking to pick up a set of wheels for summer/track/autox. Can't decide on MY00-MY03 or MY04+ wheels. A quick search led to me to some pros/cons:
Pros of MY04 wheels:
-larger rear reduces oversteer
-re050's, while more expensive, seem to last longer than the S02's (ie, cheaper per mile)
-Kuhmo MX are available in the correct size (good cheap wheel)
-S02's may be discontinued?
-looks good (least important factor)
Cons of MY04:
-heavier (although I think combined wheel/tire weight is only a little bit heavier)
-wheels are more expensive
-tires are more expensive
-16" with S02's were designed for the car
So, if I go with the MY04's, will it actually end up being cheaper in the long run given the pro's above? Are Kuhmo MX's that great, or would I be able to go with the MX's for the 16"s in 225/45/16 and not loose that much performance? Are the S02's that much better than the RE050's?
I'm concerned about performance since I autocross and track. This will only be my second year doing it (first year in the S), so I'm not at a competative level yet...but I don't want to criple my car too much just to save a few cents. Any help would be appreciated.
Congratulations on making it to the end of my long ass post.

also keep in mind if you don't have a 04 s2k and you get the 04 rims that will knock you out of the stock class for autox.

If class is not a concern than the larger MY04 wheels would be better. You can get 225 fronts and 255 rears which should help a bit. I have been autoX/HPDE in the S2000 for the last two years and I just got a set of MY04 wheels. I
