Default Need your Opinion

I am buyign a set of tires soon so I need your opinion on this. It is mainly summer driving, autoxing, and driving in the twisty. I know it is a improper size for the rear as you need 245s in the rear with the exception of the stock tires (S02).
Right now I am riding one my cheap Hankook HRII tires that came with the car. with 205F and 225R also. On the backroad roads I have experienced some oversteered when taken to the edge, but it is nothign that I can't handle yet. The RE01R really caught my attention and it is at a really affordable price. On the other hand, I was also thinking of the Hankook RS2 tires with 205F and 245R.

So what do you think is a better set of tires for me for getting the fastest time in the autox.

I have experience with both tires...but on different cars. I had the Hankook RS2s on my '91 BMW 318is. They had good grip and were cheap, I did pretty well autocrossing with them, as well. Very easy to control on the edge (atleast in my BMW).

I now have RE01Rs on my stock AP1. The tires are great and have great grip for a street tire. I have yet to experience any oversteer outside of throwing the car in to a turn too quickly. It is very stable and easy to control. I recommend the tires highly. The stagger works fine. You won't be disappointed. Just be aware that their speed rating is slightly lower than the stock s02's, but it isn't a concern for a street car.

IMO, 225/50-16 non-OEM is not an "improper size" for the rear. Outright tread width (by whatever arbitrary way it's measured) is not necessarily the most important tire characteristic.

FWIW, I just got a set of Hankook RS2's, but if price hadn't been an object and/or if I was gonna be tracking or autoXing on STREET tires, I would've gotten the RE01R's in 205/225.

The speed rating is V, 150mph, so no real worries there.

RE01R's run wide as a 225. IMO, even though I've had plenty of experience with RS2's, which I indeed liked very very much, i'd run the RE01R's all day. The RS2's ran a little narrow IMO for a 245

That's what I figured. I just got to be extremely careful in the rain/wet.

The tread width for stock are 7.1" F and 8.5" R and the RE01R are 7.6" F and 8.3"
