Poll: Front wear VS rear wear
#11
I've now got BFG KDWs all around. There does not seem to be all that much difference in road holding as compared to the Sols', but there is some. For example, when power shifting just before the rev limit, it is possible to "chirp" between first and second gears w/ the KDWs.
What type of wear are you getting out of the BFG's and how many miles so far.
I should pick my car up in two weeks and am looking at changing out the tires as soon as I can. Hopefully I can recover most of the cost of longer lasting tires. I will put 15,000 to 20,000 miles a year on this car and don't wish to replace tires every 6 months.

Thanks for the heads up 98TypeR#21 , tire pressures are dead on. I used two gauges to confirm that. I had my brother video the car going thru the sweepers and he thinks I should change my line driving the car . The front seems a little soft for me. The right front is skipping off the ground in the second and third corner. I'm looking into sway bars ,springs ,and reinforcement bars to tighten up the car like my shifter kart.

equal wear for me as well. of course, different wear patterns. the backs just go bald and the fronts get torn up. I blame my driving habits for that. =D oh.. and the curves in the hill country and around town, and uhmm a few track events, and uhmm but no burn outs. not for me!

WFO racer:
Is it possible you have a bad left shock? I can't even imagine being able to SMOKE a front tire, especially if the pressures are good.
I'd at least get your current setup checked out before investing in different tires.

12K miles - Rears TD = 7/64, Fronts TD = 4/32. Tire Rack sales person says that at 4/32 tires begin to lose optimum traction and at 2/32 they are illegal. I plan to replace both fronts and rears as they approach 3/32 since the rears are starting to squeal. Will order a set from Tire Rack since they are cheaper, by far, than any local dealer. And we should support our sponsors.

I just changed the rears at 23k miles. (guy at the tire place told me it had about 20% left on it)
The front looks like new still.... I think I drive too slow or like a girl... never drop clutch or race...
