Default Is this a problem?

Hey all, just got new Yoko AD08's, will be mounting them this week. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a small tear in the side of the side block. This is far enough down where it will not make contact with the pavement.

I know that when you get a nail in the sidewall they won't repair it, am concerned this is similar.

Any thoughts if this is a potential problem?

*I am not a tire engineer*

That cut *appears* to be located on the side of the tread block so there should be plenty of rubber in that area. My opinion is that the tire will probably be fine but I would certainly keep an eye on the cut to make sure it does not cause any issues down the line. I have run r-comps that get small tears and cuts from rocks and so forth (about the size of your cut), it has never been an issue.

That being said, if you want to be 100% sure, replace the tire.

I'm just being paranoid. Some people say take it back, why take the chance of a problem at 90 mph... others say they ride with those all the time...

Can it start to rip more on hard turns?

I'm thinking I'll have them replace it out of piece of mind.

If they willing to do it. Then it won't hurt. As long as it makes YOU feel better/safer.

I would roll with it and don't find it a big deal. Others might.
