If you are stock height the rear will probably be fine. I have an inch drop with 8.5 ET 40 on a 245 and it just rubbed the wall over bumps. If you are lowered I’d be tempted to put a 245 width on and even then it will be close. Fronts not sure.

Lowered or stock height?

225/45 is the correct aspect ratio for 225 17” tires.

I’d go 245. Even with that, without rolled fenders that size may still be a risk of rubbing

I have this setup and I'm running 255 all around. 225 is a lot of stretch for a 9.5 inch wheel. You will need a fender roll front and back and rear bumper tab relocation. I run F-3.0*/R-3.5* camber. At the front I have ~5-10 mm clearance from tread block to fender lip though the wheel lip itself sticks significantly out side of the fender. At the rear I have about 15-20 mm space tread block to fender lip and the wheel lip is flush with the fender lip. While this may seem like you have space it actually isn't much. And with out a fender roll the tread block of the wheel sits squarely in range of the shelf of the fender lip. When I jack up a corner by the wheel to simulate compression, the side wall of the tire comes right up next to the fender lip with only 2-3 mm space even after a roll. That means you don't have any room at all while unrolled. Keep in mind you can't account for all things even if some random guy says it might work for them unless theres a huge margin. You don't know their roads, you don't know their driving style, you don't know their alignment. Ex: I actually caught my fender slightly with a 255+57 offset setup while hitting a heavy braking and turning zone down hill. I also had rubbed in the back before rolling. And that's with the +57 setup being more conservative than my current +50 wheel. I have to be careful around curbs and turning into parking lots even with a roll. The pragmatist in me says there's not too much point to get new wheels without also upgrading your contact patch. The least front tire I'd do is 245/255 stagger and even with that I'd advise a roll.

I'd also add that at stock height this setup will also poke out of the fenders a bit, enough that it will look awkward.

Edit to clarify:
I initially misread this. Thought you meant 17x9.5 +50. I see that you meant 17x9+50. My reference is from 17x9.5+50. There might be slight differences in wheel "poke" from whee lip protrusion but tread block position within, and outside of, the fender should be largely the same.

With that setup you'll have a taller front tire than rear. IDK how it will drive however it will definitely look weird. Also depending on brand on model of tire 225 on a 9 inch wheel will look pretty stretched and is usually out of the recommend mounting range.

Here is 215/45/17 on 17x9

Obviously it is outside the recommended mounting window, I am simply commenting on aesthetics.

also yeah 225/45 is taller than 245/40 that’s a good point.

Yes varying tastes. That's not "hellaflush" per se however the tire bead has a decent amount of pull away from the wheel lip and bead. I wouldn't do a double take however it isn't to my tastes. Your mileage may vary I suppose.
