The tabs are a really good indicator if there is rubbing as the clips and then the liner will be rubbed away first but that tiny lip is easy for the tire to catch once the liner is gone or if the situation is right. Once the tire catches that lip it yanks it down and it cuts into your tire. I've been able to return these with fender rolling but in every case the damage caused was still noticeable.

As for the fronts being easier to roll because they are thin it is only partly true. The tabs are incredibly easy hell you can bend them up by hand with little effort. The little lip however is tougher and because the fenders are very thin and the width varies from the small lip to the larger tabs it is hard to roll them and have them come out even. You are also fighting the wheel turning and the fender tends to flex quite a bit due to it being a thin removable part unlike the rears. The rears take more muscle but given the width of the lip is even throughout, the hub doesn't turn, and its held in with 10000 spot welds (estimated ) I find the rears are easier to roll and have them be even than the fronts.

Again at stock height the risk is reduced due to the length of travel before the tire gets close to any of this. Can it still happen? Sure but it would be a fairly extreme situation where there may be bigger concerns than a damaged fender. The risk increases when you lower the car as there is less distance before things start contacting each other.
. The rims came with 235/40/17 nitto NT01 all around, I don’t think I can use them for daily use, even if I roll the fenders. I looking at Hankook v12 mfor daily use

Yeah I wouldn't use those for daily use since the are r comps. Those actually end up being shorter than OEM so not really ideal. The federal 595ss I have run and was good for daily duty. I liked them better than the V12s which I ran prior to the federals.

I'll defer to your experience however I had a hell of a time getting my rear fenders to roll, especially at the welds. I will also mention that I still think the liner tabs can be a greater concern for higher offset wheels. I know most people catch the fender at the "corners" when the wheel is at lock and going over a curb. But with my +57s I do think I once rubbed slightly at one of the tabs just on compression with the wheel slightly turned while going down hill and hitting a dip. The +57s definitely cleared the fender lip however the tabs not so much. Where as with my +50s the whole fender lip+ tabs are all in jeopardy. But I'm digressing.

I'm not sure if Hankook V12s are the best choice. Granted I've never driven on them however it seems everyone always complains about soft side walls. The only "daily" performance tire I've driven were MPSS and I thought they were pretty good. Granted people also complain about those having soft side walls so IDK maybe it all comes down to expectations. Right now I have RS4s for "daily" tires but it's my garage queen.

I just want to add, I wouldn’t go much lower than OEM offsets without lowering the car. The poke will look weird.

Also, definitely don’t stretch the tires at all unless you’re low. It’ll look really bad. When I went from a 255 on a 17x9 all around to 215/17x9 in front and 245/17x10 in rear I lowered the car 1/2” or so to make the car look right.

and I was already like standard coilover low!

The tabs do get rubbed but that usually causes them to be pushed up. That damn little lip catches. There is always extremes and so may different circumstances however. In each case that someone has had a tire catch it was on the lip. I saw it on a slammed car running OEM wheels and I have seen it on moderate drops with lower offset aftermarket wheels. The rears need to be HOT and you definately need some muscle them more but given they are so much more robust its easier to keep them even in my experience. The fronts I feel like I have to be to gentle. I think with the rears I have only had issues with the paint if there has been prior body work done. Fronts I have had oem paint crack a few times and it can be even worse if there is body work down.

Yeah the V12's aren't the best. They aren't terrible but kind meh. Other tires out there that are better.

Will 17x9 +40 (255/40/17) fit on the rear with a fender roll and tab relo?
Dropped ~1 inch, -2° camber

Default Needing assistance

First post here . . . Just purchased an AP2 and it is being shipped to me, I need a set of wheels and I have a choice for the front wheels being:

1) 17x7 - offset 48 mm
2) 17x8 - offset 50 mm

Not wanting to roll the fenders, car is on stock suspension, if I would like to install 225 tires on the front, which one will give me the least amount of headache? As for the rears, they are 17x9 with an offset of 60mm, I assume that this also would be fine. Your expert opinion is would be highly appreciated. Glad I found this awesome forum!
