I am still on the fence on which tire size to go with my new setup. I recently bought 17x9+40 and 17x9.5+40 CE28N. I am on PSS9 coilovers and have my OEM fenders front rolled with a very slight pull and plastic liner trimmed. My rears are rolled with bumper tab relocated. I am trying to decide if I should go with 225/45 & 255/40 or go 245/40 all around. My car is my daily and I do not track the car. Below are my camber specs:

Fronts: -2 camber & 0 toe
Rear: -2.6 camber & 1/16" toe

OK since my last post a few months ago on this thread, I ended up getting some wheels/tyres...
I got work emotions.. 17x7+53 (215/45 tyre) front & 17x8+47 (245/40 tyre) rear..
I have coil overs and am going to get them installed fairly soon and set a 1-1.5 inch (max) drop...
Should I expect to need a fender roll with that set up?
I've looked on heaps of posts and can't find someone who is dropped with 17x8 and similar offsets without a roll, but since it's only slightly less offset than the AP2 wheels, shouldn't it be ok?

Thanks

So frustrating when I add that I have the Stoptech ST-40/328 Big Brake Kit to my 17" max size shopping decision. Bought car with very nice 18's but want strong, light 17" mostly for track use and I don't want to use spacers. Apparently 17x9 +60 to +63 is the ideal rear size to run 255/40/17 without mods? Then the choice becomes the front to fit over the BBK and what size tires can I get away with? If you have any of the front wheels listed below and don't have fender mods, what size tire are you running?

The variables are killing me. I want to figure out which 17" wheels to get, and the max size tires I can run WITHOUT rolling, pulling or tabbing ANYTHING. I've got adjustable coilovers and might like to try to get lower if I have clearance. After tens (hundreds?) of hours on the forums, I've made a list of all the wheels/offsets in 17" that (supposedly) clear the (front) Stoptech BBK, but that doesn't tell me what my max tire size is without mods to bodywork.

So, in the end, am I looking at the following wheels that will clear (supposedly, depending on other's posts) the brakes. Would have liked to run 255/40/17 all square but it appears I'm going to have to drop off to a stagger. So perhaps 8" wide front and 9" wide back with 225/255 (I have now w/18's) or even 245/255? Can I get it done without fender mods? None of these address fenders, just BBK clearance.

I have got to say that Manga-Spawn is providing a tremendous amount of service and help and we need to all buy him a drink if we ever meet at an event! Thank you, THANK YOU!!

So the above (edited) quote by me is from MARCH!! and nearly a year later, I have not yet succeeded in trading down from my 18's to 17's with my dual (multi) challenges. I thought WedsSport TC105n would work but after extensive reading, BBK issues, needing to go +42 front not +49, I think it is NOT an all-square option and probably not an option period. I considered Prodrive 17x9 +50 square but assume that will require a roll front minimum. TSW Nurburgring 17x9 +63 work I think but are just so very heavy and if run front, prob means square and rolling. Perhaps the Advan RSll in 17x8.5 +51 could work all square? Fenders?

1) I have a clean '07 painted after-market in German M-B paint. Pro job but I'm very, very afraid to touch (roll/tab) my fenders and do not want to do it. If it were OEM paint, I think the paint wouldn't crack by my tech and I both think it might crack, no matter how much care (and heat) is used so just can't do it. I want to keep camber normal, spirited street, Dragon style and occasional track driving. Perhaps SCCA?

2) The combo challenge of front wheel shape, width, offset to clear the Stoptech BBK is a very narrow list. I cannot have the wheels I want without fender mods. The wheels on the list above with lower offsets, are too aggressive and require fender work. That is most of the stuff in the +32, +40 and even +45 range. I wanted Volks or Advans, don't think they are going to work to clear the BBK and no fender work.

3) Am I really relegated to just buying a set of Enkei PF01 in 17x8 +50 and 17x9 +60 and running 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 or maybe?? 255/40/17?

4) Is there ANY wheel that could be run with decent sized tires all square with NON-Rolled fenders or is that a dream? Perhaps Enkei PF01 17x8.5 +40 all around? To go all-square do you ALWAYS have to roll the front fenders to fit a 245 or 255 tire up front?

I'm currently looking to buy tc105n's staggered. 17x8 +42 clears Spoon calipers, so even if it doesn't for stoptechs, it'll be super close and prob just a small spacer would be needed. I'm going to consult with a couple shops first, but I plan to go 17x8 +42 / 17x9 +49 with 235/40 & 255/40.

Those aren't terribly aggressive so I will say watch the front liners. If you are missing tabs or you can see signs of it rubbing. you will want to roll the fenders.

First off thank you Happy to help. You are in a real dilemma since fitting over a BBK and not rolling the fenders is near impossible. The PF01 is probably your best chance at it. I will say if you are doing these mods so you can track the car you will likely end up needing to roll the front fenders due to it rubbing during hard cornering. Your repaint is concerning. If it was done right you should be able to heat the paint without seeing any bubbling. If you can heat it so it is uncomfortable to touch and you don't see any bubbling you can proceed very very carefully. The other choice is cutting the fender lips. This is not my preferred method but in you case it may be safer.

You will likely need a roll especially with the 235's.

Hello guys again!

I ended up with 18x9.5 +22 and 255/35 at the rear and as expected i'm rubbing (a lot) at the bumper! The car is lowered by 4cm (1.57in) and toe is set at 0.12 if i'm correct.

Any suggestions? If i pull the bumper to match the overfenders (ASM) you think i'll be alright?

Thank you!

Yeah that's really your only option at this point.

Current fitment I am working on for the S2000 I recently acquired.

17x9.5 +40 Rear with a 255/40/17 RE71R
17x8.5 +40 Front with a 225/45/17 RE71R

Since RE71R supposedly run narrow, I'm not sure if I should attempt to move up in width by 10mm. The car is rolled stock fenders front and rear. Have not relocated the bumper tab yet and the car is not extremely low on PSS9. This is a street/track car, so the PSS9 may be going soon for something more track oriented.
