What are the widest tires i can put on a 7" wide rim that will be safe for road racing?

Depends on aspect ratio.
I *might* go as wide as 245's with a 45 aspect ratio, 225's in a 40 aspect ratio.

Are these wheels on the front or the rear or all around? Stock AP1 rears are 7.5", good for 245/45-16's easy.

Check the tire manufacturer's rim width requirements for the particular tire you're considering.

225 is probably all I'd do. Anything more and it gets tough to mount them up and you risk rolling the tire off the wheel.

i say pick up a different set of wheels because the 7in is limiting how wide you can go

Agreed. The FF (Integra, Civic, etc) guys run 15x7 or 16x7. Go up to 7.5 or 8.

Probably better off tracking it on the stock wheels. 225s up front and 245s in back is likely your best bet for maximum grip. Tire selection is more important than size, though.

Quick Question. I was getting opinions as well about running 225/50/16 Front / 255/40/16 Rear on stock AP1 rims. Some told me it was fine while others say huge risk. If there is a risk of running the rim off the tire, then I will lean towards no on this tire size.

Where are you finding a 255/40-16 tire?

Probably too wide on a 7.5" rim, what does the tire manufacturer give as minimum recommended rim width?

Also quite a bit smaller in diameter than stock.
