My Pandora stations are getting shockingly repetitive. I have it on U2 right now, and it's playing Bob Marley - Could you be loved...
1: When creating a station, I now prefer to choose a "genre" on Pandora's website vs. a specific band or song. That usually gives it a bit more breadth. Obviously, there may be songs or whole artists that you don't want to listen to, and that's where part two comes in:
2: Don't be afraid to thumb up and thumb down things, but be aware of the consequences. Thumbing up or down shouldn't just be for general "I do or do not like this song", but "I do or do not like this song and songs like it playing on my station". Possibly the best example of this is my "G's Classic Rock" station, which was my first Pandora station ever and I've been tweaking it for 2-3 years now. It started out as pretty good as I just liked and disliked whatever songs I pleased, but then it started getting either repetitive and played songs I didn't like. Sometime last year, I made a DRASTIC overhaul of the station by going on to the website and removing a bunch of things I thumbed up or down over the years. One of my biggest complaints was that I was getting a lot of shitty live recordings, so I removed my "thumbs up" from nearly all of my live recordings except for the VERY best. I also removed some thumb-downs that were causing the station to be a bit more mellow than I wanted, thus allowing some heavier stuff to roll in. As I thumbed up the stuff there that I liked, more like it followed. Now it's VERY good, and I rarely have to skip more than 1 or 2 songs. I still discover a lot of new music on nearly all of my stations, and the Android app works great, so I'll gladly pay the annual fee to just support the service. Getting no ads, more skips, and no 40-hours-a-week limit is just icing on the cake.

That's actually quite helpful, I'll play around with it some more. The genre makes a lot of sense, artists not so much. I've been playing with Mog as well, it is very similar to Pandora, however you can play just one artist all the time, which is kind of nice too.
