Im sorry if i hurt your feelings about E-tunes.
Yes sir. What you stated and what Brandon stated are two different things. First off I don't think anyone stated that you will get a etune and flashpro automatically tunes the car for you. If they did I apologize for missing it. I also never said that you said etunes suck balls, I asked why you/wade were giving false information about etunes from evans and what experience you had with them? Both of which have yet to be answered.

But lets break down what was said...

E-tunes for a NA car very little risk and worth the shot.
I agree

Any forced induction without a proper start up map and some what of a tune is walking on thin ICE if wanting to go the E-Tune route. I see the idea and understand how it works, but Forced Induction is not to be messed with in this aspect of it.
If you are going the etune route then you will be provided with a basemap based on your setup. Which has been stated quite a few times before you posted. Now I will admit I read this a little wrong the first time. I understood as you stating that you will need a tune from someone else before starting to etune with evans.

In other words you cannot throw a Trubo kit on your car and go do wide open pulls on your car without a tune and expect E-tunes to work for you. A car with a loaded base map and tune would work as you have something to start with and work from but even then its risky.
This is what happens though. You get the etune(basemap) and are supposed to go perform the wide open pulls along with everything else Brandon mentioned.Evans sends you the maps that has so many safety features built in(boost cut, knock retard, af limiter, boost compensation, etc) and is so rich and retarded that you will have a hard time blowing anything.
Going from nothing to FI with E-tunes very risky.
Going from nothing to FI is risky period. But going with a etune from a professional can be as safe as getting a dyno tune(see references above)
Going from a previous FI tune to E-tunes worth a shot and may be the new thing!
Any time you are switching from a dyno tune to a Etune you are starting fresh. A good tuner will stray away from tweaking someone elses maps, There are too many variables and changes that the previous tuner could have made that a good tuner wont want to mess with and fight with. Just like a good welder strays away from messing with someone elses work

Again I did come off like a dick and I apologize. I have a lot of respect for you. You are one of my favorite parts people to deal with and I like telling everyone to come see you.
The main issue I have is that I have experience and have seen how well this works but a lot of people look at it like its some tuning chip they are buying off ebay and knock it. I would even take kirk up on his bet if he was FI where we could really see the difference between a Evans tune and Ums/dynocomp/locash tune. But Brandon is right, not everyone has the time or patience to etune and feel more comfortable dropping their car off with some one else. That is also completley fine and i have nothing against that.People need to knew the options they have available and the FACTS that can help them make the right choice for their car and pocketbook.

"There are things that are not stated in this thread that are leaning people towards the wrong thing."

Ben,

For 1 i dont care what Wade thinks. 2 you were getting defensive for nothing, and you just agreed with me for the most part, stating you didnt really read what i wrote. I never once said your name in anything all i said was this thread and its over 2 pages so why you took it like i was talking about you, no idea. Im sorry i should of changed my wording from "There are things that are not stated in this thread that are leaning people towards the wrong thing." To say there are things you need to research before jumping into something so do your homework. I should of also mentioned E-tunes means (Email tunes, electronic tunes) Not specifically (EVANS TUNING) as i dont believe they have the word (E-TUNES) copyrighted!

Like i said before it was my .02

Coming from someone in the Import Scene for 18 years now, I would only tune my car on a dyno. Technology has advanced over the years YES but im stuck in my old ways.

Actually I touched on this in my last post. There are obvious situations where an e-tune is not preferred, but this car isn't one of them.

And quite honestly, I am not partial to E-tunes, so I am not trying to make a case one way or another. Depending on the car, and build would dictate what I did.

Also, how does the FlashPro deal with wideband o2?
I know I had to swap out my o2a for the RSX one.
Tony attaches his dyno wideband when tuning.
I am pretty sure the DBW cars, are wideband, so no need to change out that.

Didn't someone have a UMS gift certificate they didn't want?
Maybe you can sell it to Kirk? Feezy maybe was it?
Kirk likes this.
Madhav is right, mine was for 10% of Carbotech otherwise I'd gladly hook it up.

G Im sorry for the debate then. I was under the assumption that we were soley talking about evans tuning, I didnt see the transition point where we decided to talk about etunes in general.
You are correct cronic. You will need a wideband for kpro on the 04-05 models to etune. 06+ come with widebands. My mistake on that.
Nik did wIn the UMS GC.

No worries, a good debate and talking things out what makes us MEN! I too was assuming 1 thing and saying another. Once again the internet takes things out of context of whats trying to be said. I still love you!
