FIA Decision
Interesting statement for the FIA regarding the 2008 McLaren inspection:
Suppose they find something in the car that is traced back to Ferrari, they would be allowed to run with "some sort of penalty"? McLaren could start the season in a negative points situation???
This will be interesting although I will be surprised if anything is found on the car....
Ron DENNIS: However, your concern about 2008 would be eliminated at the point where the technical inspection is completed.
Max MOSLEY: Yes. If the car is deemed 20% Ferrari, we would impose some sort of penalty on you. I do not want to speculate about what that might be. In other sports, points deficits can be inflicted. We do not wish to prevent you from running in 2008; we simply do not want you to enjoy an unfair advantage.

There are some real classics in the official FIA startements, 100+ some pages will take me a while to read, but this one is just wonderful...

No, but I must tell you why. When Mike told me the figure, it was so radically different from ours
that there was no way that our care could ever achieve that. The whole philosophy of our car was
to move the weight forward. We had managed to take some weight from the gearbox. There was
no point. At the previous stage, I thought the information might be important and that we could try
it in the simulator, but then the figures were so different.
Nigel TOZZI
Your intention had been to use any information that Mike Coughlan sent to you to try things out in
the simulator.
Pedro DE LA ROSA
Had it been an interesting figure, I might possibly have at least tested it.
I'm sticking with my new name for McLaren, the McCheaters...

NS has zero credibility left. He denies ever passing info to McLaren, yet McLaren saying he was a "whistleblower". Who is lying?
i'm still confused about NS being labeled a "whistleblower." what the hell was he blowing the whistle on?
anyway, i dont believe the FIA will find anything on the McLaren car next year that is a Ferrari design. I dont think the FIA could find anything on this year's car if they checked it today. It sounds like they used the Ferrari data to test and determine their car's setup and design, but they took it from there, and the McLaren car is their own.

^ you and the rest of the world!
Beyond me how a "whistleblower" can go to a competitor and not the authorities with information.
IMO - it's an association made from necessity...
