You need to be edumacated to appreciate fine German automobile. Apparently you are too redneck to understand. Go back to your Viper.

...but seriously, I don't think anyone ever has anything bad to say about 997 911. Get one of those Germans. You won't be disappointed.

Ya, I think I am going to stick with Viper and buy another RX8 as a beater.... $12k car > $60k car.

It's a byproduct of a very capable German car with a low torque engine. It's hard to overdrive the car and make it "exciting". Sure, it sounds great and is very capable, but it's not that exciting...

Get a CTS-V. Overall best car I've owned. It's fun and very fast, sounds great, but you can go into cruise mode, turn on the air conditioned Recaro seats, open the ultraview moonroof, turn up the quite decent Bose stereo and just cruise and with the mag shocks in tour mode, it's very comfy and relaxing.

I felt the same way about my old Z4 35is with the dual clutch.

Its fast, sounds nice, looks nice, but I was bored and missed rowing my own gears not long after driving it.

You can't beat it for lightening fast shifting and perfect rev-match, but it took the enjoyment and skills away from shifting. Really made it felt more like video games ...

I enjoyed my E90 M3, but it had a 6MT w/ a short shifter. Main nice thing about it was its versatility as a fun family car. I'd go another route if I didn't have a kid to haul around.

I have a e90 m3 DCT ~ never a fan of the tranny and this is the main reason for selling the car early. If it was a manual I might have kept it longer but will defintiely be going back to a 6-speed in the F80 m3.

I traded my S2000 for a BMW M3 SMG for a weekend; I did not like the car that much and was anxious to get my car back. My buddy was digging the S2000. Flappy paddles are faster no doubt, but they aren't that fun. Depends what your priorities or hot buttons are for a car.

Yeah, absolutely it's the tranny! I have the next model down from the M3 (- admittedly a LONG way down, it's a 335i with the M Sport package) in a 6MT and it's a blast. If it were an automatic it'd just be another nice sedan. It seems from talking to lots of people like the automatics on BMWs are "boring" - some combination of shift points and slow response. So being able to shift at will is huge. Of course, it's not as fun on the S and perhaps even a manual might not be as fun as your RX-8, they're totally different cars...
