BMW Drivers
75% of statistics are made up so here are mine.
99.999% of BMW owners aren't car enthusiasts so they bought their cars for the badge and their cars will probably never be driving even close to 50% of their potential.
The other .001% are enthusiasts but they should have bought a much better cheaper car to track
My brother and his 09 m3 is the perfect example.
That car probably wont see any speed above 70 mph.
If I recall right, 90% of BMW's are still sold as auto's and most of them are leased.

Has anyone stopped to think that many owners purchased their BMW because the just like the car? Not sure if you guys have driven any of the recent 3 series (any of them) but they are all awesome daily drivers.
Don't know if many people are still image conscious who own a BMW when there are so damn many of them leased/on the road. I think people just like the quality inside and out.

To be quite honest, I dont think there are many car companies that is as focused on performance as BMW.
Yes they are horribly expensive.
Many ppl who drive them are major snobs.
But there is a nation of bmw owners that love any driver oriented cars, like the s2000.

I am a firm believer that perceptions are everything. Sometimes people perceive a war is a good thing to get into and other times people perceive a certain religious/racial group should be eradicated. Most of the time perceptions agree with the majority, but to claim a perception is correct is an impossible argument.
The perceptions of BMW on this forum blow my mind sometimes. I don't know what experiences some people have had with the owners of these cars or the actual cars themselves, but my BMW experience has been quite the opposite.
Some of the Honda clubs are extremely obnoxious. If you want to talk about some really nasty owners, look at the internet racers who hang out on Honda forums....and yes, there are a few on S2Ki.
At the end of the day, how many car companies are still building performance cars? And of those companies, how many offer some sort of performance in every model they build? Porsche, Audi, BMW, MINI, and VW are the only ones who come to mind. How many does the sacred Honda-brand build now: ZERO. Front wheel drive is king right?
Very few BMW owners are snobs. At least BMW makes a car people can be snobby about. They don't break often, and if they do BMW pays for it most of the time - even at times when a car is out of warranty. They are not piling up across American driveways and parking garages - they're just more noticeable than your typical Toyota Camry.
So instead of me sitting here and dissing back on people, I would just ask that you think about what you're posting.

Perceptions are oftentimes wrong, but that doesn't change the perception many people have. I work at a construction company and if I were to roll up to the office in a BMW, I would get a bunch of flack. If I were to roll up to the office in a Porsche or Ferrari, I would get a lot of flack too. It's not right, but that is the way it is.
I would rather drive a Yukon to the office 99% of the time and fly under the radar becuase it's easier that way. Several years ago, my boss had a G500 or whatever Mercedes called their boxy SUV back then, but he left it at the house and drove an old Lincoln Navigator. It was easier that way than explaining to his employees how he can afford a G500 when he only gave them a 2% raise or whatever (hypothetically speaking). Even now, he drives an Escalade when he could afford any car.
Perception can be wrong, but it still doesn't change the potential effect.
