Agreed on all counts. The first 30 or so Presidents are going to roll over in their graves. Its so ironic that this country was built on the foundation of slavery.

My OT ass is signing off...

You do have the extra power and thats what scares me. That extra oomph will probably help you beat him stock thru the cones. We all basically thread jacked...oh well. It happens. The OP has a sweet ride but he asked for it.
Lateral transitions on the C6 are compromised by the runflat tires and stock alignment. Both of those issues are fixed on my car when running on the track.

I am impressed with the E92 M3 slalom as that is a great speed. I think the M3 is a great ride and as a compromise daily driver/track car, it's damn hard to beat. But from a pure performance standpoint, the C6 will be superior overall, certainly when both cars have sticky tires and a track alignment.

The fact it can even be argued is a testament to the M3.

I wonder how much the 911 costs probably not much less than a new C6 which I seen advertised for ~$40K.

I'd more likely go for the Vette as I dislike the 996s now that I've actually seen how nice looking the 997s are.

Back to the point: Fact = C6 has 2 leaf springs. The last time I was under my handle-like-crap truck it too had leaf springs. So let's say X = leaf spring & handling like crap is Y. My truck = Y. My truck has leaf springs. So My truck = X. Therefore X=Y. That is undeniable fact. It is impossible to argue that.

So until X!=Y, I guess I'll remain ignorant.

Awesome!
Actually, the C6 has a single traversely mounted leaf spring.

To further highlight the absurdity of your equation:
let's say X = rear engine & handling like crap is Y. City buses = Y. My 911 is rear engined. So My 911 = X. Therefore X=Y.

I love both 911's and C6's, no point arguing which is better. For my money, I prefer my CS, but would pick an '08 C6 over a 911 (unless I was rich enough to easily plop down the cash on a GT3 or Turbo). The C6 has always handled well, but has lacked in control feel, but the '08 has much better steering/shifting feel. Same thing for the interior, GM worked hard last year to address the car's key criticisms, and IMO there's not much to complain about any more, esp. for the price.

Congrats to the OP for a cool car, sans the chrome wheels.

the level of ignorance it takes to write cars off because of what you've read in a magazine or heard from someone WITHOUT ACTUALLY DRIVING THE DAMN CAR never ceases to amaze me.

And that my friend is one post I couldn't agree with more!

I think that most of us who frequent and post here are car nuts. Otherwise we wouldn't be here. We come here because we share one common hobby or joy. Cars, and in particular performance or sport cars. Could be coupes, could be sedans, could be roadsters. The one thing they all have in common is an engine and four wheels (and usually a manual tranny).

We like learning about different vehicles and for the most part, I believe we like to learn from our fellow posters about vehicles of which they have first hand knowledge and of which we don't.

And we are going to argue. We are going to disagree often with one another because of who we are, car nuts. Car nuts who usually have preferrence for one particular make or model above all others.

Unfortunately many times this isn't limited to the vehicle we own or of which we have first hand knowledge. And that is fine...

Except when lil Johnny is a sheep. He reads an article or has a friend of a friend or read something in a magazine, or 'watches an automobile program' and takes it for gospel because he can't get it through his head that "the story you read in the magazine or seen on TV (gasp!) about the "insert model name here", is as much an advertisement as the advertisement on the following page about the vehicle he just read about which was tested...

Ahem....why do you think automotive manufacturers give their car to a magazine to be tested in the first place?
Why do you think magazines such as MT or C&D seem to cater to certain manufacturers more?
Why in direct comparison tests is there often a car more directly comparable often left out?
What do you think an automotive company would do if their vehicle was totally slammed in a magazines comparo and how many advertising dollars or vehicles do you think they would provide in the future?

Any magazine or tv program (unless it is non-profit) is nothing more than an advertising medium.

I think the Honda S2000 is the perfect example of being that "Left Out" car in comparison tests over the last 2 years. I can't even begin to count how many comparo's I've read where the S2000 would have been the perfect match for another car but apparently received the invitation for diner a little too late.
