Finally made a decision

what a miserable idiot.
have you ever even seen an actual c6 suspension?

Actually, since my truck has 2 leaf springs, it probably handles 2x as good (or is that bad) as that single leaf springed vette.
Lighten up and stay off the caffeine. Read all the posts before posting insults that you'd probably never lay out in person. Also, I posted the pic of the C6 suspension, so I'm going to say yeah, I've seen a C6 suspension.
Ok had no idea this would happen. I should note that I was considering a 2005 C6. Not a 2006+ which improved steering response. Alot of people who had 05's were complaining the steering/handling were not up to par. In 2006 they apparently made some changes to the C6 in that department.
A few people had also told me to avoid the 05 C6's. 2006 C6's were just out of my price range.
But I love the look of a Carrera far more than a C6, so I went with the 996 even though it is slower. Plus I've always wanted a Carrera when I was a kid.
I of course respect C6's and definitely like the way they look. But in the end, the 996 was exactly what I needed.

haha, well maybe a black president....but 996 over a C6 would be some twilight zone shiz for any truly unbiased educated car enthusiast
May you have mercy on my soul for rejecting the almighty C6.

Wow, I really had no beef with you on this thread. Let me take the time to delete my congratulations. I now wish that Porsche turns into bottomless money pit for you. Enjoy.

*edit* Me and Quicks2k misinterpreted each other. LOL.

I don't like chrome wheels but that's just me. I'm conflicted about the 996. It takes a lot of shit, but overall is a much better car then the 993, IMO. The comments about the C6 have been dealt with. Basing your opinions only on your 'experiences' is pretty arrogant as any person's experiences are pretty limited. Magazine racing is always dangerous as you never know how the test was really run, the shape of the vehicles, and manuf make all kinds of decisions around tires and brakes for many different reasons. Everything being equal rarely is.
People assume the S2000 is a slower track car then a lot of cars because of mag tests. The tires on the S2000 are too small for the chassis, the brake pads blow, and most people cant drive it for shit. Look at the latest test of the Viper ACR. A 'pro' driver ran a 1:29 in the ACR and a 1:32 in the stock 08 at Willow springs and a local amateur ran 1:29 in a stock 08 viper, not an ACR.
A single mag test is just fodder for fan boys. Now if you have many, many mags all getting the same results (GTR vs GT3 for example) it becomes hard to argue. But, even then you have to factor in driving styles and what kind of tires and brake pads the manufactures chose. If you think the C6 and Z06 aren't hobbled by run crap tires compared to the 911s....
Anyway, congrats on the car.
