DCI can adjust your volume based on speed..
I hated that feature on my Modifry DCI, and recently disconnected it!

It always seemed to trigger as I was scrolling through my iPod (via Alpine interface), and would screw up my search and start me back at square one.

Maybe you should consider an AP2. I remember my AP1 was beyond snug; it was like a second skin. I don't know if it changed for 2006, but my AP2 is comfortable enough. (not that there is a HUGE difference or anything). You might like an update instead of something entirely new.
Wouldn't it be a a lot cheaper to just get AP2 inner door panels? That's all that changed to create the added interior room.

I think I woulda gotten the Z4 3.0si if I could afford all the expenses that comes with owning a BMW. I high revs are awesome, but I could live without it. It's not like I go to racetracks.

I think the interior room is fine, but then again I'm 5'12" and 150 pounds.

It really depends on what you like. If you like the status and you want looks from more girls then go with the BM (although your wife may not appreciate it, the looks i mean.)

Personally I'm more into how a car feels and the connection I get while driving the S is not worth compromising for any luxury.

Different strokes for different folks though. Go with what's important to you.

It's based on personal preference. Test drive one and make your decision....pretty simple...

Not to be the jerk here that fulfills the cliche of bashing another car on a car forum...but DON'T DO IT! I test drove a Z4 3.0, knowing that I couldn't afford it but I wanted to make sure I made the right decision. And now I know that I did, fo-shizzle. The Z4 really isn't fast but that's not the deciding factor to me, cause I honestly don't think the S is that fast either. For one, I don't like the exterior of it at all. But that's preference. But if you're used to the way the S drives and handles...stick with it cause no other car feels as smooth to me now.

Make the right decision for you, but I have a feeling that you'll be sitting in the BMW thinking, "why did I get rid of my S!"

Sounds like you really like the BMW's, and if your goal is to impress the inlaws and such then thats the way to go. I would really rethink the X3 we test drove them and were not impressed the leather was really cheep. If you looking for more room in a drop top, get a SAAB. If your Looking for driving experience you not gunna beat the Honda, (read all of the Reviews) now if you want to impress people with how much you spent then go with the BMW. I dont want to sound like I dont like BMW's, I may add the coupe to the collection, because I like the looks. However, Its not as fast or nice a a G35, but you do get to go to track days with the BMW club.

take a look at an m-coupe s54powered if you want a comparison to the s2k, i had a 2002 and traded it for the s2k, tough call on whats a "better" car, i liked the aftermarket available for the s2k, which was almost non existant for s54's then, or overpriced. The power with the m is still faster overall than my s/c s2k, it has torque that the s2k simply lacks so daily driven the m is better, but the high end rush of the S even in stock form is alot higher. The perfect gearbox is another amazing advantage you wont find in a bmw. drive each car 3 times and you will have an answer

I tested all the Z's before buying and I ended up with the S2000. Idem for the Boxster's etc... But test it out for yourself and see if you like it. It has definately more grunt down low because of the displacement and it sounds superb, but in the end I find the S having more soul and being more raw.
