The Formula 1 Thread - 2012
So glad MW got pole... nearly shit my pants when i found that out haha. and I felt really bad for button and especially Nico... two races and one lap for him... Living in america means I have to avoid my phone and this thread until I can watch qually and the race
It was 2 in the morning saturday night when Korea ran... o well.

It's just a shame we haven't had much of a battle for the lead of late. It would have been great if Vettel's tyres had fallen off the cliff in the last two laps.
after seeing few first laps and what happened there (incl Vettel running away) i also was expecting very boring race.
but it really wasn't.
no news in top 3 but rest of the field was very active.

No surprise to anyone, Massa signs for another year:

Gotta love Jackie Stewart and the way he says it like it is
Former F1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart does not believe Sebastian Vettel can yet be called one of the greats, even if he wins a third straight title.
The Red Bull driver won his fourth race of 2012 in Korea last weekend to take the lead in the drivers' standings.
“Vettel completely dominated the Korean Grand Prix and drove in such a mature fashion for a 25-year-old”
Sir Jackie Stewart Three-time world champion But Stewart told BBC Sport: "If you've got a superior car, it's relatively easy to win the championship.
"To really show you're one of the greatest, you have to deliver when you haven't got the best machinery."
The three-time world champion added: "I have the highest respect for Sebastian, but he could not have achieved what he has without the [Red Bull design chief] Adrian Newey factor."

I'd say exactly the same about Damon Hill, and maybe Villeneuve.
Much as I respect Jackie, he does whinge on quite a bit.

i think this exaclt the difference we've seen between Vettel and Alonso - both had not competitive cars at first half of the year, but the ability to extract every last bit of performance and exploit opportunities is very different:

Wow the Indian GP was as bad as I thought then, not even worthy of a comment by anyone.
Can't wait until Bernie moves on and we get back to some proper racing circuits ... oh wait that is never going to happen is it, he is busy adding more and more dull tracks in all parts of the world, and reducing the 'best' circuits mostly based in Europe to make way for them ... F1 is becoming a bore fest once again and I fear that within 3 years I for one will have stopped watching it altogether.
