I think a lot of it has to do with team strategies as well. (tires playing a big role) Everyone is too worried about their tire strategies (and massa with fuel) to actually push and race... When the cars are actually racing on these circuits, its exciting. You will here them say that they need to conserve tires. To me that just means to bide your time and hope we can get a better pit-stop than them. O and by the way, poor Torro Rosso having two incidents with their front wings. With Vergne and MS connecting again.

I don't like all this conserving tyres and fuel nonsense, I'd rather see them going flat out for 2 hours. I don't believe however that tyres came into it in India.

I say this as in an interview on the BBC Hamilton said that it was his favourite race of this season so far as he was able to go full out for the entire race without having to worry about the tyres.

Yeah there's the thing, the damn tyres will easily last on circuits like this, from what Brundle said in commentry tyre wear is not an issue at this track, so there isn't even the added pressure of that ... in fact thinking about it I thought Pirrelli were supposed to make tyres that would only last 10-15 laps and then fall off the cliff ... that was a bloody BE lie too ...

I think you have that backwards. F1 has been a lot more exciting since they got rid of refuelling, and more exciting again with Pirelli tyres, perhaps because if the tyres become the limiting factor, and everybody has the same, it closes the performance gap. You can say that Massa couldn't race because of having to save fuel, but of course that's the choice the team made to give him a lighter, and therefore faster car. Every team has that choice, exactly as they have the choice to stop 3 times for tyres with the pit stop penalty that involves. If conserving tyres was slowing them down, they'd all be stopping three times. If conserving fuel was slowing them down, they'd all be putting more in. Therefore they are going flat out.

Interesting that, given Button's tyres were "down to the canvas". So much for his super smooth style (not for the first time this season).

We really to get rid of all the aero packages so cars can run close, bring back entire race distance slicks and any other aid that's been added to "improve" the racing, we need racing that is about the fastest car/driver and circuits that punish mistakes and reward the brave.

I agree with you Nut in that the India track does well with tires. Thats why I was suprised that they went with the soft and hard tire compounds there. Im not doubting the fact it is becoming boring. That was just my take on it... O and BTW I was looking up interesting stats on Formula 1 and thought everyone would enjoy this! (if you can somewhat trust Wikipedia)

That'd make it really dull. Fastest car/driver (which is inevitably the team that spend the most) starts first and stays there. Nobody dares try to overtake because a mistake, or even going a bit wide ends in a gravel trap and retirement.

Sometimes, being super smooth doesn't get the heat into the tyres, hence they grain.
