Boullier confirmed as 'Racing Director' at Mclaren.

Wonder what Racing Director means in the real world and who will be team principal...

Judging from the success Lotus had on the strategy side of things I'd imagine he'll slot in to that role with McLaren.

Isn't he Grosjean's personal manager as well?

Possible future move as Jensons replacement now he's maturing into a very competitive driver, and if I remember correctly Grosjean brings a fair wad of sponsorship money from Total, which is now redundant at Lotus given the PDVSA deal.

"Team Principal" is a bit of a made up by the media title anyway, but as Boullier is going to be running the team at the races it's fair to say it'll be him.

He was part of Grojsean's management team, but Lotus were quick to stress Boullier leaving doesn't compromise Grosjean's seat. Of course what they decide for 2015 might be different.

I think with Ron Dennis back in ultimate charge they'll be pushing for at least one top driver for 2015; i.e. Alonso, Vettel or Hamilton. So Button will be out, and unless Magnusson does turn out to be the next Hamilton, he'll be out too.

Ross Brawn announces his retirement:

But I'd bet he'll be back in some kind of consultancy role before too long.

Hmm I am not so sure he (Ross Brawn) will return.

Interesting testing the last few days, Red Bull are struggling and long may that continue Maclaren appear to have some fancy trickery on the back of their car, and it appears to work .. Ferrari looks good as does the Mercedes so ... perhaps a changing of the guard this year ... or am I speaking too soon I wonder .. !

You're speaking too soon.

Red Bull aren't going anywhere and this is just a hiccup for them.

Probably. They weren't great at the start of 2010 or 2012, and still won the championship - although at least those went down to the final race.

It's a bit of a setback. It does appear that Newey's gone overboard on the tight packaging and they're suffering overheating as a result. Torro Rosso are less extreme but suffering in a similar way, but Caterham-Renault have a much roomier rear of the car and were the only Renault team managing to do any significant running.

Whereas Mercedes were first out and doing 100s of laps. Too early to tell about speed, but certainly if reliability is as big a factor as people think then Mercedes are the team to bet on.
