If you watch any of the races from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s, they don't sound like f1 cars either...

It does seem they're a bit too quiet, but that shouldn't matter on TV. Maybe FOM just need to turn up the trackside mics in the mix. I miss the scream, but don't mind the new noise,it was always going to be different. I think half the issue is with the torque, they're not even using the full 15k rpm.

Maybe they can do something with the exhaust regs to increase the volume without messing up the running.

But I do like being able to hear the crowd. Big roar when Vettel went out.

All things being considered if the racing is as exiting as qualifying I can live with the noise. And like Toto said, if we want noise let's go back to a V10 :-)

That Redbull had pace in it and it's as I said a while back frightening to think how fast it will be once they get to grips with it. First few races with an eye on reliability and fuel they will still struggle, but if it has pace for qualifying then it just needs some work to become a monster race car.

I find the anti Vettel thing very disappointing, what are we clannish soccer fans? :-)

I'd like to see how he behaves if things don't go his way. I think he'd be a nightmare in the team and get very bent out of shape. His reaction in the car when he didn't get on the podium says it all. We shall see.

I think it would do him good if he loses or his team mate beats him more than what webber did. probably make him stronger.

It's hard not to take some delight in seeing Vettel being trounced by his young team mate, though it was probably some reliability issue in reality.

I wonder if Ricciardo would have got pole if he'd had the full wet tyres.

It was a thrilling session. Glad I got up for it.

I can't believe what's happened to Lotus though. It seems the cash from PDVSA has just let them limp on rather than save them.

Maldonado will throw his toys or if the pram something wicked if they don't find any form and take his money to any other team. I can also see Grosjean going to McLaren soon. I think the writing is on the wall for Enstone.

I think Lotus spent too much time developing last year's car right to end and not the 2014 challenger. Perhaps in a bid to look good to potential sponsors...

Looks like Ricciardo is going to get thrown out of second place:

That would be a real shame, but they were very clear on zero tolerance.
