I can see these having their own race series soon, and being rather good fun.
As for the RX8 comparison - somehow I doubt they'll be that bad. The RX8 had it's problems built in with the rotary engine, high fuel consumption and problems with rotor wear if the owner didn't stick to a particular operating and maintenance routine - a recipe for disaster with today's average driver who assumes nothing will need looking at until the first MOT is due.
Of course they'll depreciate, but if there are no maintenance gremlins I doubt they'll be any worse than average.
when the RX8 was launched, people who said the Wankel was prone to fail were derided - we were told it would be different in this car
plenty of cars are fecked despite sticking to the service schedule via a main dealer and the oil consumption was simply silly for a modern everyday car
the high fuel consumption was obvious from day one and in tests but ignored/discounted
I doubt any of the above will apply to the Toybaru
I was just making the point that extravagant and laughable claims were made about the RX8 and its future value when coupled with hype about the driving experience
I think the depreciation will be no better than any other similar car but it will probably be worse - market manipulation notwithstanding
after that, they have very high chav potential
nearly new and move on after a few months is the way to minimise the loss, otherwise bank on losing at least £15K in three years
still not seen one in the flesh.
Tyres make me laugh, loads of Nicks' (tm) struggle buggies 3 series on £250 per corner rubber and thats a broader theme of late. A 370z has stupidly wide rears but isnt exactly a rocket ship. I expect this over rubbering is sponsored by mr michelin and his buds.

Tyres; most people cannot drive, thus need excessive grip and think the hellatwat look is worth something because the marketeers tell them it is.
I really like the idea one may learn the 86 on squealy little Prius tyres & then replace them with AD08s or whatever. It helps avoid that yo VTEC Bang!! thing of S2000 fame...
One of the US mags track-tested it on grippier tyres & then on 18s. Predictably, the grippier provided the best compromise between faster lap times & not ruining the steering feel.

Uzu means an eddy, or vortex or a spiral.
Tyres are great fun stupid wobbly things - '70s US car chase sounds with only 4,000 rpm to play with. It's like a MK1 Escort/Crapi or something. It ain't big & it ain't clever...
