Go or Agile? Do some research the latter has been poor since wholesale elec prices went through the roof a few months ago.
If Go is still offering four hours at 5 pence or so a unit 'go for it'!

No idea who/what Rickover values are but here is the independent Agile Octopus price tracking site.
Their 'Go' tariff is 25p/day standing charge 5p/unit low rate four hours, 14.12p otherwise. Might be slightly different for E Midlands.

Apart from Easter weekend 'Agile' prices since pre christmas I am about £5-£10/month worse off
Examples from my spreadsheet are: Jan 1078 units £143.54 versus £134.66; April 535 units £59.50 versus £55.68.
Benefit for me switching to 'Go' is I don't have to check daily and piss about just fill the house battery during the low rate hours.
And I don't have to fiddle about with the Ohme app. Four hours 7.2kWh should almost always top up the batt to 100%.
Also I can take the heat pump off the time switch which prevents it running during the 4pm-7pm peak period.

i think we are locked in till Nov.. but it will take all that time to get everything installed anyway

it's funny.

I had to apply to Western Power to install a charger
I provided a pic, they came and had a look, new meter required first.

Smart meter in yesterday.
WP booked in to upgrade cut out
then they ran again to book it, i confirmed they had
then i got a letter about it
charger next week but rate limited as we have a (probably) 40A cut out. the old meter was 40A

should all be resolved in the next 10 days and we'll have a better setup. Now just need to figure how i hide the charger (it's not pretty is it?). Might build an oak housing for it.

Some people install them outside but there can be issues with damp ingress. Should be possible to waterproof I would have thought.
Ask. Help desk is excellent but as I found out recently 9-5 weekdays and not weekends or bank holidays. https://www.ohme-ev.com/

Charger in..

Been a faff

Impressed with it though. It runs from the single garage cable/trip so has a smart control to prevent overload, also has PEN protection to prevent the car going live
which is nice
The app is cool, integration with Octopus cool too.. I need a cooler tariff (not cool)

LM,
I did this when we a gadget like this years ago, didn’t switch anything off but just curious to see what made the reading peak, wife reckons I can hear the tumble dryer getting filled from 5 miles and be on the phone before she can press on.

I wonder about the maths on this
most washers now have just a cold input (no hot) and heat their own water using (expensive) electricThe elements also fail
Elec is c 4x the raw energy price of gas but it's more complex to let the water flow, for example, to achieve a desired temp
Christ I am a dull ****er. No more gas boilers soon so cheap energy gone

As you say (due to the MMGW myth) natural gas will soon be no more.

My household has an app that graphs the energy (solar PV, L-ion house battery, consumption and grid) 24/7. So I am like Martin only a live-in PITA.

Management has got the main idea of nothing discretionary from 4-7pm (i.e. dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, hair drier) which is Octopus 'Agile' tariff peak time. Kettle, toaster, cooker, hob get covered by the house battery which charges in the wee small hours. Big surprise to me was the draw of the fridge/freezer. GSHP is knocked out during peak hours too. Lately electricity wholesale prices (which 'Agile' tracks) have gone off the scale and cheap power is very rare. Hoping tonight with gales there would be some but not so. Anal paral I would probably switch to their 'Go' tariff but since we don't do many miles it's a close call.

I like the way you drilled only in mortar so removing the Ohme is easily made good if you move. Looks a bit busy but he had to drill often for strength.
