I went on my driver aweareness course yesterday as opposed to picking up 3 points on my license. The tutors were saying that the last one they had turned nasty. This nurse had been on duty all night trying to save someones life as she had been hit by a driver that had been talking on his mobile phone and this other guy on the course was saying it was ok to talk on the phone in your car and he had plenty of meetings while he was driving using his mobile phone. She flew at him pulled his hair and punched him in the face.
would have gone to court I'm sure (yeah right - there'll be no official record of this anecdote)
I mean, assault is far worse than speeding isn't it?
maybe not

self appointed road police wind me up more than people on the phone.
I know i can do it safley without getting caught
There are some people on the roads that shouldnt be driving nevermind texting so i guess its like everything.....
It should be up to the individual to judge for themselves.... if its within their ability to do it.
Everyone has the potential to be a leathal weapon behind the wheel.... wheather they be intoxicated, or distracted its their own fault if they cause an accident.
Be responsible and make your own decisions, based on the individual circumstances
I dont see why you get shafted for talking on a mobile phone, when most people eat apples & change radio channel etc....
Nevermind things like; rumaging for things in the glovebox, changing CD's (which i wouldnt do).
I just think its just funny the way that using your mobile while driving as become so tabboo/unacceptable even though the law is only a few years old.
Its almost like an unspoken common jealous agreement between road users:
"although i would love to use my mobile while driving, the law says i cant. So when i see other people on the phone, i am enraged with jealousy and use the law as my defence".
I say: "live and let live."
mate, she shouldnt be using her hands

Actually - hands free kits are illegal now aren't they?
Interesting, a very polarised opinion here which is not what I predicted after the first page really.
Topical, I just drove up the M5 and myself and wifey watched what we thought was a drunk weaving along at 70+ between hard shoulder and middle lane.
He wasn't aware as i came alongside him either as he was still totally engrossed in sending a text. Then he jumped as he looked across on his next swerve.
Shame it wasn't an area car I was in.
A couple years ago I got rammed in the boot by a kiddie trying to dial a cellphone.
I watched with dismay in the rear view as I pulled up at a zebra crossing for a pedestrian. Bang.
I had seen him on the phone at the last roundabout
Had it not been so busy I would have shoved it up the little ****s arse.
