My friends monther has 9 points and was put on a driving safety course thingy the other week. She got talking to the policeman about undertaking and apparently now, its to your discression. But if you cause an accident doing it, your up sh** creak...
I do it all the time. Theres so many middle lane hogs and complete pr**ks who just congregate like sheep in the outside 2 lanes.

Thats like saying I pay my road tax so I can drive how I want where I want. 100mph past schools and everything. Just because you pay your tax doesnt mean you can do what you like.
You dont own the road and have to share with millions of other road users, which means you need to obay rules. Keep right accept when overtaking is a rule IN the highway code.
I dont see peoples problem with it. Its not hard unless your a complete ***kwit.

I did that very thing driving home today on a three lane A road. An Audi TT was sitting in the middle lane and instead of pulling out early I pulled into the outside lane at the last moment . . . . .
Given all of the above do we think the driving test should include m/way driving and/or dc driving (on a NSL dc)?
I for one think so.
Maybe a 2 tier test - not allowed m/way and/or dc driving until the 2nd tier is passed.

Not sure it should be in the test, or tested even, but I do think once someone passes their test they should be made to go on a compulsory motorway training course - ie. license is valid subject to further training.

Bad habits start after you pass your test though. A better answer would be compulsory retests every 10 years, which would include motorway driving.

From a governments perspective on retests every X years, i'm surprised this additional revenue stream hasn't been exploited already
The DOT definitely need a rethink on driver education, quite how motorway driving isn't covered by the mandatory test is beyond me.
