i'm not looking forward to the migration either..
if you don't switch, are they going to force you to? also, if i have to switch, is it considered a break in contract if i go with..say..verizon?
right now, no one is actually being forced over into cingular's system...they're just making it really hard not to migrate if any of your equipment (phone ,sim card) fails. As for the contract issue, I really haven't heard a good answer to that yet. I would think that since the services being offered to the consumer are so much different, consumers would have some kind of right to terminate their contract without the fee, but I really don't know for the time being.

Seriously speaking (which I know people will think I don't do ) ... if you have a contract, it is VERY unlikely that they will be able to make you move to a specific company ... unless they are prepared to see your contract out to the end of its validity, it will probably be cheaper for them to allow you to brake the contract early ... if they are not prepared to see it through to the end of its validity, THEY will be in breach of contract and you could possibly claim against them ....

Please note that I am NOT a lawyer and I am not in the (great 'ol) US of A and I often don't know what the hell I am talking about
