For the first time I'm aware of, someone blocked me on FB.

This results in 2 problems:

1) I'm now down from my 500 person friend list. I've been keeping it at 500.... add a new friend, delete someone else.

2) The only outstanding friend request I have is from a coworker. Good guy, but as a rule I don't "friend" immediate coworkers.

I'm probably overthinking this.

having to count friends now THIS IS IMO RE DICK U LOUS

I don't need a COUNT I don't even need FRIENDS

butt like having a few
It's not really about counting friends, per se, but rather keeping tabs on who is deactivating accounts.

why does that matter

Facebook has a ton of (annoying) filtering algorithms. So when a couple weeks go by and I haven't seen anything from people who are typically active, it's a quick check to see if they unfriended me.

THAT is a good point IMO. I do catch myself making those comments, but haven't thought about it that way before. It does feel like you are just watching a friend's life from afar at times, especially for my local friends. For my friends who live far away it's a nice way to stay in touch

Also, Evans SAYS on facebook that mom makes a good point.

Yeah... we actually removed a lot of people from our list (Mostly Evan's family ), as we NEVER hear from them, even around the Holidays. I sent cards to some people for years, and decided last year to stop wasting my time.
