Put some oil around the threads before you tighten it.

Put on glove.

Dip finger in oil.

Slap it on the threads and under the cap seat.

Hand tighten (don't go nutz on it!).

It need to be on and seated. Not crazy tight.

also...i try to make sure the car is fully warmed up when i take my cap on and off..thats so when it cools down the metal contracts and the seal gets tighter...also if you do it on a cold engine...the aluminum could expand so much that the oil cap vibrates itself free and falls behind the engine..thats why i think a lot of people lose the oil caps...i personally can't take the oil cap off the car when its cold i'm a wussy i guess but shit i know its not comin off by itself...

I put some oil on the seal That's where a lot of the breaking friction is.
