THE BIG SICK- enjoyable drama/comedy
Just saw "The Big Sick" with April, and really enjoyed it. Funny and sad- but more funny than sad- the 2 hours flew by. You can tell who the movie is tailored for by the previews played- at big action summer blockbuster types, you'll see big action, no thought previews. The Big Sick featured previews for Film festival type movies. Judd Apatow produced so you know there's something to it.
For those that don't know, this is based on the true story of how aspiring (at the time) comedian Kamail Nanjiani met his now wife. Nothing explodes, there are no car chases. It is also supported Ray Romano and Holly Hunter.
So, my rating is based on it being a film festival type movie- I give it 8.5/10. Great date movie- maybe not first date, though. And its not for kids- the comedy will be way over their heads. Mine went to see spiderman instead.
