Latitude zero
1969, can't say where you can see this , youtube? or buy it from Amazon
Here is the plot line which means little,it's how it's all done that matters....cheesy....colorful...and very Japanese....
Plot: A journalist is saved by a giant submarine captained by a 200 year old man who takes him to an underwater paradise city where no one ages. That's when monsters and mutants sent by the captain's rival, a 200 year old scientist, attack.
Car reference: Directed by Ishiro Honda(stretch or what)
Are you a fan of the Godzilla movies, the ones with the guy in the rubber suit? did you like Cesar Romero as the Joker in the old Batman TV show? Are you a fan of Richard Jaeckel or Joseph Cotton? Well welcome to Latitude Zero, a "cult film" from that era that has it all plus Joseph's wife, Patricia Medina. Some thought it a good idea to combine all this American stuff within a Japanese Scifi film. Flying monkey, underwater foo, lots of stuff gets blown up, Cesar does his usual over acting (shades of the Joker sans white face makeup), diamonds and gold for everyone, an even more strange attempt at a twist ending, an underwater world, cheesy Japanese special effects abide, and sexy clothing for the time.
And it has Linda Hayes (who?) as a doctor wearing little, you have to be a fan of this stuff to enjoy it, and for some reason I just had to see it after hearing about it. A 5 outta 10 cause Cesar over acts perfectly.
