Move the pork roast to Friday evening and let people fend for themselves for Lunch. Part of the welcome pack should be a map with area food options (Subway, Wendy's, the pizza place, etc all in Robbinsville... Fontana options... Bryson City... deal's gap...).

With all the drives on Saturday, who's going to be around Fontana?

The other thing I'd like to have at DBR 2008 is a stocked car wash area. Wonder if we could even have folks to do "quick washes." Not detailing necessarily, but just quick wash and dries.
If youre talking about myself doing a quick wash for not much money, I offered this all day Saturday and no one knew about it. Something like this will have to be better publicized by the coordinators so people know that its actually happening.

And the Bon Fire Friday night was Publicized, but not the one on Sat. night. A group of us decided we didn't want to stand in the dark doing nothing, so we made a fire. It was tons of fun too.

WSB - Good idea...regardless, I think we need to show the options on the map/guide for food, fuel, etc.

The one concern I need to overcome is a "GROUP PHOTO" of the people and I'm having issues getting those organized. If we have a dedicated lunch spot on Saturday, I think it brings us all together again and then makes that oportunity available for a group photo.

mattfeet - apparently I had NO idea. I washed my car on Thursday night...but hated every second of it and had SOOOOOO much else to do. I wasn't going to bother on Friday or Saturday.

Good idea. I'm thinking about a BBQ (Roast Pork) for Saturday's lunch...so it may be too much pork...lol! However, I like the idea of roast pork, etc (BBQ) on Friday night and then maybe burgers and dogs on Saturday.
Someone say bacon?

It also severely limits the drive options to ~4 hours in length.

I'm not a huge fan of group photos, as it is... the last time we did one I was doing donuts in the grass waiting for everyone to organize. Trying to get 100+ cars/people in one place at one time... ugh, colossal waste of time. [/soap box]

But this wouldn't be a "car group photo." It would be a people shot...problem comes with the size of the group too...LARGE groups don't get clear pictures.

DBR 2005 had a nice group shot where after lunch at Deal's Gap, we sat on the loading dock...this allowed folks to stand and kneel/sit and we got a pretty good group shot.
