well I added to my diatribe a little

and yes I would readily carry and display a weapon as part of my daily dress. it was that way up until very recently and no...I would not look like an action hero, i would look like a properly armed individual

A single Sig 45. in an tastefull polycarbonate molded holster....very stylish

So does this mean you will happily walk the earth, day by day, strapped like an action hero, just in case you are to one day be jumped or robbed?

Sounds like fear at its finest.

next....
so you live without fear but can do nothing to defend you or your family from even minimal threat

would you rather have the ability to defend yourself and never have to use it or not have the ability to defend yourself and need it??

seems simple to me

I bet dollars to donoughts I would be the first person you would be screaming for right after a crook shot your wife dead during a robbery and your kid was next....

sorry to be so graphic but people like you detest people like me until you need them

I completely understand your reasoning and I would be lying to say that doesn't make sense. I'm simply saying that I don't look for the day or anticipate the day I'll need to use a weapon to defend myself.

I originally grew up in PA with a father and uncles that hunted all kinds of game with all kinds of guns so I was no stranger to it from birth. I shot my first gun at age 5. I spent 8 years in the military and was exposed to even more firearms. Some big and some really big. I also hit the shooting range from time to time. I think gun ownership should be licensed and renewed every so often like a drivers license with mandatory classes/training involved. They are easily conceiled and powerful tools that facilitate killing much easier than other weapons. A gun is a well designed instrument of death that shouldn't be taken lightly or trivialized. Guns should be a last line of defense and not a show of power for any joe blow to whip out any time he has a disagreement with someone. Conceiled weapons permits and gun sales have doubled in Florida since the economy hit the downturn. Gun owners are also 10 times more likely to be shot themselves than non-gun owners. I had someone try to carjack me here in Tampa a few years ago by gunpoint in my face. It was scary butI still choose not to own a gun.

You'll save 1000 lives wearing a helmet, carrying a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher before you get the chance to unload your .45 into some troubled underprivileged kids chest.

Why not that instead?

The man has a point. Car accidents are astronomically more likely than robberies or muggings. Wearing a helmet or equipping an extinguisher in the car at all times seems like a much more manageable way of protecting yourself.

underprivileged or not, kid or not...they come at me with a weapon and try to do harm to me or my family.... I am airing them out

LOL

I am not walking the streets to save lives. I am going about my business and protecting my own life.

A first aid kit is not going to defend my life againt an assailant. A fire extinguisher might make for some funny antics if I get robbed but will do little to protect me.

it is not my responsibility to save lives when I walk out the door. it is a chore I would gladly help with if I am presented the opportunity but it is not my duty. my duty at all times is to live and protect my family.

how did we get so far aff course Brian?
