Supermeet Suggestion Thread

Busy day at work so not much tiem for me to chime in here however I would like to address a few of th ethoughts that have surfaced so far.
Financial support:
In my oponion having S2ki "Sponsor" the event is certainley something we can discuss with them however the fees of $20.00 per year to have a site where we can all communicate like we do everyday is a small price to pay IMHO. Can we approach them, absolutely but if I were the owner I would want to see a tanagiable return on my investment, IE more memberships? Maybe a discounted membership if you renew at the meet? (Just ideas)
Additionally I know American Honda has funds for events like this and while we were not successful this year at getting them a new approach for next year will be made.
Group Drives:
I can see a few tweaks in the logistics of getting people into groups and launching the groups however the group drive is not a race, auto cross or track event. If anyone wants to "open it up" then they can do so on th edrive to the meet or the drive home by organizing their own group drives to and from. IMHO the Track Day Sunday organized by Willie Gee was perfect and offered a great opportunity to "open it up" in a much safer enviroment and an opportunity for learning your car and your limits
Perhaps an Autocross type event for the day after the Supermeet or the same track event. This is the right way to approach "going faster" and "learning" not on the street where bad things can happen.
Food: Live & learn, we will do a much better job on food next year. Keep the suggestions coming.
Vendors:
The vendors we had are all top notch and of the ones I have spoken to so far they said they felt it was worth their time and effort to attend. They are business people and we offered them a very specific demographic of people to market and network with.
We hope to have the same vendors back and a few more, if you have suggestions on a company you know that may be interested please PM me th einformation i would be happy to approach them for next year.
Thanks, Barry

with what Barry has posted, but I'd like to add a few ideas/thoughts.1. Financial Support.
While it would be great to have S2KI support on this type of event, you can't have support if you don't ask S2KI. I think it would be great if $5 from a $20 membership ($10 from a gold membership) goes directly to the local community as to which that member belongs, or at least a portion of the local advertising dollars.
I'm not sure how much American Honda would be willing to support S2000's as it has been discontinued, I'd think contacting various local Honda dealerships would be more beneficial to our community. Just off the top of my head there are 5 Honda dealerships in the Orlando area, maybe approaching them to donate $100-200 per dealership to underwrite the costs of the meet would be better.

2. Group Drives.
Limiting each group to 5-7 cars is a great idea.
Having said that, it's up to each driver to be responsible for themselves and their cars.
I was talking to Martha (Dean's better half
) and we both commented on a NFR AP1 that had completely bald rear tires. I hope that he/she was not on the group drive--this is a perfect example of an accident waiting to happen. The track event (or an S2000 only autocross) is a great idea, and props to WG for putting that together.
3. Food.
Didn't have any, so can't comment.
4. Vendors.
If a vendor takes the time/money and effort to attend a meet, we really should do our best to purchase products and services from them. If KamiSpeed sets up a booth, spends time and money to bring products to us, doesn't it make sense to buy stuff from him? Does it really matter if he charges $100 more on a set of Brides than buying from a company located in California? If we don't purchase locally, it hurts all of us in the end.
All involved in the SuperMeet did a great job. Congrats!
I had a great time. I didn't make the group drive but I was there until the group picture (had to take off).
This is my first FL meet but in TX during a few group drives/events its always been a "fast" group and a "cruise" group. The limit was always like 10 a group, with 1 lead in each group, with 3-6 group leaders on hand (experienced). There was a pre-drive meeting listing hazards, blah blah. Its always worked out well and never had any incidents. Nothing ever got too out of hand, but its fun pushing the S through the TX Hillcountry. I would say I kept it at 7/10ths my driving ability and 5/10th the cars capability. Enough to get the blood flowing, but not risking trashing my car/others. Also, like I said I didn't make this drive but safe following distances were always encourages (10-15 car lengths).
As for the meet - it was fun. I Know everyone keeps addressing the S2ki member fees should go to the event and thts why a lot of guys are over on S2KCA. All the membership money/sponsorship money here goes into the site owners pocket. This isn't a club per say, so much as an online membership. At S2K Club of America all the membership dues goes to events, etc. CThree is making a lot of money of us
I don't know - I had a good time. I guess I would suggest re-organizing the event.
Meet - divide into groups, group drive, remeet, group photo, lunch.

Hopefully in summer so I can stay all day.
yea, more stuff to do.. more vendors to be.. more people to come... however.. if one imagines what it takes to put together such an event.. this one.. was pretty darn excellent... let's do it all again...
would be sweet to combine a supermeet and a trackday... that might be rather exciting... see some of you at the upcomming Kami event...

Ditto...
First time up to the plate...Rob and Barry knocked it clear out of the park IMHO!!!!!!
Cannot imagine it being any better for a first crack. I have planned car meets that are about 20% of the attendance and about 5% of the "stuff" they did (catering, t-shirts, paypal, vendors, etc. I mean holy crap Batman this isn't what they do for a living) and I'd bet they did 5000x better than I could have even imagined.
You guys did phenominal. Damn glad I have you guys with me on the HGPSP adventure. Where's "Mr. Wonderful" now?

I thought it was great and everyone did a great job. The shop was soooo busy that I couldn't spare the personnel to bring parts and stuff to sell. Next time we will have a lot of stuff.
The only comments I heard were that the photo shoot seemed a little confused and that the NSX and Elise were nice they should have been on the side and not front and center. Several comments that, "this was an S2000 meet and how about I put my Excursion up front!"
