best buy is offering the same deal. that's what i got my current TV with, but last year. You do still have to pay a minimum monthly payment and if you miss a payment, the deal's up!

i was just looking at a 42" plasma for the bedroom... about $1000 to start - at best buy. Not so bad. I wouldn't be adverse to buying used or from some online vendor for that cheap a unit, tho.
you'll want to look at resolution sizes, for that price, you're probably better off with an lcd as the plasma quality won't be that great.

Yea, but that monthly payment is like $15 or something awesomely cheap. Basically what would be interest.

plasma's not going to be good quality at 42"?? I've heard that both the Panasonic and Samsung are very good for the money.

I really don't like LCD.

Panasonic consistently gets top rankings in Consumer reports for theier 42 plasma.

Only concern is burn in, thats why I play on my 36" CRT in the basement as opposed to the 50" plasma upstairs.

but what about the limited life of the bulb itself? people have told me that if you want a tv to watch all the time, dont make it a plasma unless you dont care about losing money.

Estimated average lifespan of a plasma or LCD is about 60k hours to half-life. And at that point, it'll only be at 50% brightness compared to new.

60k hours is about 7 years of the thing being on 24/7...

Let's say you watch a LOT of TV... 12hrs/day - that's 14 years.

In other words, it's not a problem with most current production sets.

And playing COD4 on the plasma, sometimes for as much as 6hrs, never saw any burn-in...

Of course I broke the TV in properly (still something I think is recommend with plasma)
