Hello, I just purchased a Used 2001 Spa S2000 from a Honda dealship called Honda City on Long Island NY. Unfortunately, the car does not shift into 6th gear at all... it seems as though it is locked out, it doesnt slip, it just seems like its closed off... Also the button for the right top latch is broken... I didnt think this would really be much of a problem when I had purchased it, however I hit a rather large bump on a highway which caused the latch to fall and my top to open an inch on the right. I feel that this could be considered a safety hazzard. Do you guys think they would repair these issues for me?... considering it is a honda used certified, and I just purchased it less than a month ago.
Thanks for any advice!

Curandero,

Sounds like you've got some issues. The gear problem sounds like busted synchromesh or something, and the loose latch certainly does sound like a safety hazard.

Was this car considered "certified" by the dealership? If so, I think that changes the warrantee behavior (which your car is most likely out of otherwise), and thus I'd hesitantly recommend taking your car back for service.

Otherwise, since your on LI, look up Billman250... He's part of the Metro NY crowd, and he knows his S2000s!

Hello all. As you can tell from my member # and forum age I've been here (on and off) for some time. I almost bought an 03, but had a bad experience with a local dealer and walked away. I had planned to buy an 07 "Kappa" Redline or GXP, but had some concerns about some teething issues on that platform. I just decided to take advantage of a car that I knew my local dealer (different one) was getting in and just "did it". I just picked up an 07 Siverstone some four hours ago. I also own a 1999 Honda VFR sportbike that will keep my new S2K company in my garage. I just looked in on them and there was a heavy conversation going on about how things are in Suzuka these days. My bike has a lot to catch up on. My first impressions on the new S2K are very favorable, but its way too early to have any real feel for the car as it's just too new. It is a sweet ride though!

Hello All,
I have been looking to sell my 03 ep3(civic Si Hatch) for a while now. I have gone from supercharged and nicely modded, to completely stock. Still have to sell my coilovers, then I will sell the car. My wife doesn't like the ep, so she wants to get something fun...for both of us!!! Namely an s2k!! The purchase will be probably be next Feb, thats when we project our credit cards/student loans to be paid off. I (we) have yet to decide on color and whether or not to go used or new. I used to sell Hondas, and I am very biased toward the silverstone metallic/red/black leather combo... but she doesn't like "gray"...so I guess I will have to get black interior. Any comments are welcomed!

Greetings. Stumbled across this website as I was searching for a way to remove the "check engine" light. Less than a year into my purchase of my old/new 2001. Great info and hope to learn more new tricks. Hello across the board.......
