The whole idea behind this thread was to provide the answer to this ONGOING question as it used to get asked several times over a period of a few months. It gratifies me to know that this thread has kept some of the clutter down on the forum. And since it continues to get added to, it shows that this thread still serves it's purpose.

(Now, if only we can start up a universal thread about "What color should I choose" )

"I want to own an amazing 2-seat roadster. I can deal with the minor impracticalities because a sportscar is not designed to be practical. It is designed to put a huge grin on my face and dammit I haven't had enough of those."
This will also be my response when anyone asks me, "Why didn't you get an SUV, sedan, more practical car, etc?"

Well I am new to these boards, I was a del sol owner and figured the best way to keep the spirit alive was to get teh S2000. I have found a deal on a 2003 14k miles black on black for 22,900. I am excited to join the ranks and will probably be seen littering these forums with my tribulations.

Well,

All I can say is for the price you get one maxed out roadster. 50/50, Honda reliability (some may disagree), six gears forward, convertable, rear drive, 12 second FI potential, and ownership prestige. What more can you ask for. Most other cars I could have bought for the same price have the same chasis as all the other cars in the mix, BMW, Mitsubishi, Ford, Subaru, and many others to start. It is unique and has class all its own. If this is what you look for in a car buy one you won't be dissapointed.

Cons:
Never mind the extended warranty and regular brand new car bumper to bumper warranty, because they will not honor it. They will just blame it to the driver that the car is getting abused. Any mechanical part of the car, they will blame it to the owner.

If you hear something in the car that is abnormal and send it for repair and cant find what is wrong, they will send you on your way because they have to call the technical assistant in California. Meanwhile, they will let you take your car home knowing that there is something wrong with your car.

Pro:
Enjoy the car while you can, it will happened to you eventually.
Very True. Honda trid to stick me with a burnt out clutch at 7K miles. After calling the regional service manager they said they would change it on a one time only basis without charge. I agree with the fact that you will definitely get blamed for anything that happens to the car.

Enjoy your new relationship! It is so wonderful to see a Brit lose his traditional stiff uppper lip and display a burst of exictement! As an American, I have special respect for anyone who can mange the S2000's wonderful stick shift by handling it left-handed and backwards.
Hi,
actually their are plenty of brits enjoying their sports cars The problem is they are all on the MR2 roadster forums It's where I was before I bought the SL and lost the will to drive like a bat out of hell

But seriously I asked the question because its always good to hear a potted thread of the best bits (and some of the bad things as well) and I must admit I didn't find this thread till it was pointed out

I have just been offered one on an extended test drive so I'm gonna have some fun

Just a question If the stereo is so bad, why not just boot it out and get a nice one?

Regards

Peter
