The only way I can figure is if the teeth on the cam gear and the teeth on the idler were not aligned and then as I started to snug down the cam caps the teeth chipped.

While my head is at the machine shop, I used another head I have to check valve to piston clearance. I wanted to ensure that with the dome on my pistons and the cams I'm using that I don't start my engine and immediately bend a bunch of valves. So I clayed my pistons, bolted everything together (in time of course), and the valves didn't even touch the clay. The valve reliefs on the pistons are more than adequate, even with the increase lift and duration of my cams. So it looks like everything is set for go.

I did find there was one other modification needed in order for the K24 crank to work. The keyway which locks the pulley and sprocket to the crank needed to be shortened. I updated the original post.
Make sure you consider .006 or so stretch when it comes to piston to valve clearance. Lookin good I am starting my budget stroker after the holidays.
Based on the same article and parts but I will be using a custom wiseco for the frm bore. I will pm you as I get closer. Good luck. Also are you using AEM ?

I'm happy to hear that other people are starting this build as well and I look forward to hearing from you. And as far as stretch, there was a crazy amount of clearance so .006" wont be an issue. I haven't purchased an ecu yet but I will more than likely be going with AEM. I thought about a K-Pro but the benefits over an AEM EMS are outweighed by the difference in cost, to me. Good luck to you as well.

My new cam idler gear arrived a couple days ago but I've been busy at work so I haven't had a chance to finish assembly. It should be assembled Friday.

sounds like a very interesting build. I'd watch the stroker kit though, they always make it diffuclt for the engine to idle correctly. however ive been wondering why you would buy such parts as the rods, used. I'd think you'd just end up throwin one through your block.

Why? Maybe, if their cracked. The rods I bought were in perfect shape. Plus, I was able to pick them up for $50 off of a friend who pulled them out of his H22 prior to sleeving it.
