what cooling plate is that? looks great!
I got it a couple of years ago in an S2Ki group buy. A member had some made out of CF. I asked if they would make me one out of Carbon-Kevlar and they did.

That's actually a pretty nice set up IMO. Someone should make a CF cover that goes over the K/N filter (hint hint Sam, (S2X)).

I have a vented hood, so I chose to keep the stock gutted box. I have a K&N filter and AUT snorkel. I also have a Spoon Venturi (spec: AJ-R) TB, Hondata IMG, and Spugen heat shield.

If I didn't have a vented hood or care about looks, I'd get the K&N FIPK with an AUT plate. That setup seems affordable and bulletproof.

You guys are concerned too much with the hydrolocking issues.

it is an issue with intakes like the Comptech and the K&N for people with vented hoods, isn't it? correct me if I'm wrong.

I mean in MD it will def. be driven in the rain and the car will def. sit out in the rain until I clean the garage up and make it livable for my car.

I am making a switch from a FIPK/AUT set-up, to an AEM V2. I will let you know which I like better, and why.

Umm, I don't agree with you here. AEM intakes have caused Hydro lock problems on every car I've ever seen them make an intake for. Why risk it. It's like saying, why do you spend the money on car insurance every month, because of the chance that something might happen to your car. Why sacrifice the chance of your engine blowing for a few HP and a louder engine? That's just the way I look at it, but then again you might be right.

would an AUT cooling plate with a comptech CAI work as well or comparible to the AUT/K&N combo? Because I really like the look of the CF comptech box better than the K&N.

The AUT cooling plate won't work with the Comptech CAI, unless you leave the lid off the air filter box.
