If you're looking for an intake that sounds cool, don't go with J's, Mugen or ASM. I've had the Mugen, J's and AEM and none of them sound as good as the AEM. IMO, you're not going to get much more from one of the JDM intakes as a Comptech or AEM. The slight differences are there but its up to you to justify where your money goes.

Thanks a lot JsAP1 and hunter, I couldn't have asked for more in an answer, and I agree, the only reason I haven't purchased the AEM already is the looks. Is the Comptech comparible to the AEM in performance and sound? Because Im fine with its looks, I like the CF box. Im just worried I wont be able to hear or feel it.

Man hunter, you got the ultimate mod, where can I get an ASIMO for my car?

I haven't bought an intake for my car yet, but I've already decided on the J's, throttle response and the extra umph at speed are what I want from an intake. The AEM might make more power, but the hydrolock issue is a big concern for my daily driven car. Not to mention the AEM will adding power, I've found to be lacking in throttle response compared the the short ram and even stock. I've heard the J's and Mugen both give better response and with the ram air style scoop, I'm sure at speed they do make some power, it's just not dyno testable.

You'll be able to hear the Comptech Still. It's just not "as loud" as the AEM. I'm very Happy with my Comptech, it's attractive enough to be under the hood of the S, and it delivers the sound that a sophisticated car should have without being ricey. There's Dyno info out there, but the Butt dyno says any power gained is only in the midrange.....

ASM if you can afford it...3k is the price i think.

But i agree that j's intake is the best from what people say.

I just got done installing my HKS intake. Compared to my old Comptech, the HKS gave me some added power throughout the powerband. I can't comment on how much, but a big differance on the butt-dyno.

Not to mention the sound at vtec is wild.

HKS is safe. The filter is located in the same place as K&N and Comptech - inside the engine bay. But it does have functional heatshields, so throttle response remained okay compared to ARC. It's a sweet and underrated intake, just good luck finding one.
