its so frustrating looking for a new intake for my s2k. i have an aem v2 right now and i want to change over. my two choices are comptech or the spoon snorkel route. I have had the v2 on for about a year, and i dont like the look of it and i worry about hydrolock, even though its a small concern, its an issue for me. some people have mentioned HP losses, ratteling, bad fit and finish and "filter element melting" for the comptech (seems weird that the air behind the head light could heat up that much). im just stuck as what to do at the moment, all i know is im going to get rid of the v2 in the near future. ive spent an hour at least today searching for opinions.

yea i dont think i can afford the mugen intake, if i went jdm i would go with the spoon snorkle. If i went with a snorkle with the stock intake I would also replace the drop in filter, are there any that you guys would reccomend over another? thanks.

HAHAHA I feel your frustration man, I started this forum 2 pages ago and Im still not sure what to do, I cant afford the spoon right now and I didnt wanna get the AEM because of the exact concerns you expressed, so I think I've decided to go with the comptech, the melting and hp losses could be related to a lot of other things the way I see it, and I can't imagine the fitment being that bad, its just not that complex. Add to that I like the look of it and people for the most part say its somewhere comparible to the AEM in power and sound, and the comptech seems a pretty good choice to me. The only other one Im looking into now is the HKS. I'll let you know what I find out, and anyone else, please gimme your two cents about the comptech and HKS. I know mugen or some other JDM Blingy's would be good but this is for the monetarily challenged

yea, im torn like 50-50 between the stock box and spoon filter and the comptech ice box, i think alot of the rattle is due to poor install, if they install it drive it for a few miles and then re-adjust it some of the problem might go away. another reason i might not go back to stock is i dont know how to put back the stock box!

So JsAP1 in your opinion having had both the comptech type intake and the sort of ram air type mugen and J's intakes there really isnt a difference as far as power gains? I figure the mugen wouldnt dyno true to its real power due to the lack of air being forced in. Also, this might be a really stupid question but what happens if its raining, doesnt water get up in that snorkel? or does the filter catch it?
