i think that if you already have the 60, then this is worth the $2xx that it is to fix, I was thinking about buying a used one with a rattle, so I think I'll just wait and buy a new one. Thanks for the info!

So just finished remounting the exhaust.

amazing how easy this gets the more you do it

Here's a couple shots of the re-welds:

first one he ground the edge down and pulled the guts out - then welded the edge back together

nice welds

that didn't get everything , so he had to cut the other side open at the pipe

again beautiful welding.

this hot spot was caused by the bad packing that wasn't held inplace very well...
the gap was wide enough for the exhaust to get through to the surface

Chris replace the crappy packing with some nice stuff and tied it in place with ti wire.
he really over did it - he's a pro

Drove around the block (pissing off neighbors I'm sure ) ---

Sound GREAT!!!

I missed my baby

anyone who purchases exhaust shipped takes the chance of cheap packaging like mentioned earlier..that could be the problem right there..

--- not shipping packaging...

e-glass exhaust packing... the stuff inside the muffler.

J's doesn't use high quality fiberglass so it burns up pretty quickly.
plus (unlike the picture above) they don't over lap the seam so the exhaust pushes through the gap and burns the canister (like the hot spot picture earlier)

sorry for the misleading post....

so how much did you pay for this exhaust>? thats alot of work for a exhaust that should have, at least from a price perspective, been better made and designed?

the resonators that rattle come from their first batch. the new fx series that are sold now has no problems whatsoever. the problem has been acknowledged and fixed.

Now to decide if I wanna get my J's back and have it fixed or keep my uber quiet Amuse. I do miss the sweet sound of the J's though.

Sure it has I don't believe everything I'm told.... IMO the vedict is still out on the new FX exhausts. There is no proof that the resonators will not fail again just as they did in the past. As far as titanium exhausts, I'd just stay away from resonators period.
