I need to stop waiting so long between visits to this site

I would like to add to this thread that ITB's are not for everyone. Sorry, they're just not. Having gone thru the steps individually, I can sum it up pretty easily:
Any of you that have switched over from stock to the AEM EMS know the certain...OEM...feel that you lose. The car feels less refined, more raw. Now take that feeling, and amplify it 10x. Now you've got ITB's. It's twitchy (throttle response is absolutely nutz), it's cranky (below 30 degree starts = 2 or 3 attempts) , and climate changes require slight retuning of fuel maps to keep the AFR's at optimal performance.
For those of you that aren't bothered by the little annoyances, and aren't going to miss the factory baby-butt smooth operation of the engine, are going to love ITB's though. The sound of the engine can be compared to a 2 liter version of a hyabusa at WOT...an undeniably demonic scream erupting from your engine bay (especially if you've got hood vents) at every blip of the throttle...a saweeet purr when under slight load, reminisce of how a masarati sounds at cruising, and a low, deep pulsing gurgle at idle... +50hp midrange = effortless throttle pressure while tooling around town, and easy, shiftless passing on the highway.

I'll never go back. Ever.

hey nate, so you been daily driving that monster with no filters or screens whatsoever in the engine bay to prevent alien stuff (i.e cats, birds) from going in? how about when autoxing? youre not scared of sucking gravels? or maybe cones? HAHA

im thinking of putting a metal screen sandwiched between the horns and tb just to prevent big rocks from going in... or cover every holes in the eingine bay with screen.
I played around with filters for about 2 months, and finally just threw my hands in the air and said screw it. Filters have been nothing but a PITA...and wire screens do nothing but scuff up the pretty air horns.

I did suck up an orange cone up once, but it was just barely too big for my velocity stacks

I check my oil every fill up, and after a solid 4 months of no filters, I'm happy to report nothing out of the ordinary. I also have an magnetic drain bolt, and the wear "film" isn't any worse than pre-ITB.

[QUOTE=MINES13,May 8 2007, 08:54 PM] On a stock setup, 48s will be stronger.

If you are running the cams and intend to spin the engine to 9K then go with the 50s. If you are gonna leave stock sticks in there and keep the engine speed down in the 8000-8500 range the 48s will likely perform stronger in all honesty. I have greater aspirations down the road so the 50s are something you can grow into. but they aren't the perfect size for a stock engine.

48mm are probobly going to be better all around for power due to the greater intake velocity, especially on a stock head with stock/mild cams. I wouldn't be surprised if my setup made more power on the 48s honestly. Haven't had the pleasure of trying it though, and I've seen 52mm setups lose power.

Just wanted to confirm that the LHP kit has everything needed. no extra parts or fabing will be needed?

Mines, what length horns are you using now? What is the horn width at the end?

can you explain the Alpha N to me and speed density?
