whoops, it is the July 15th.

Winchester for me, one more good PAX and I wrap up the overall season. George, you might be interested in the Capital Audiofest this weekend.

Mercedes Results are up. Very small turnout.

Someone posted some pics and I appear to have a lot of body roll. Car height is actually pretty high but it looks slammed in the pic due to the roll (no rubbing at all). I am running a MX-5 in STR (17x9 wheels, 235/40-17 SS, DGR coilovers with 7k/5k spring, -2.5ish camber). Car feels pretty balanced overall and is generally set up a little loose. I wonder if swaybars would settle the car down?

Yes, they would. Pm MazdaSC (JAmes Dunham) since his NC Miata is virtually 100% prepped for STR and well sorted out.

Will do. I am trying to decide whether I should get a real set of coilovers and deal with the roll through spring rate, damping etc or whether low spring rate and swaybars would work better on the often crappy surfaces around here? Since autox is really a pretty low priority for me at this point, $400 for swaybars probably makes more sense than $4k for new coilovers.

James' car was transformed like my CR was when he got JIZ suspension two years ago. But he also has sways front and rear although I believe he may not always use the rear bar. With auto-x being a low priority, go with the sway bars. You will get most of the benefit, and cheaper. Plus you don't have to sell them - they will work later with the remainder of suspension as you develop the car. Sways make a big difference and will improve your contact patch due to less body roll. They also make the car easier to drive since there will be less roll and better transitioning. There are two schools of thought: stiff springs soft bar, and stiff bar soft springs. The S2000 is sortof a hybrid (stiff springs + stiff front bar); but your Miata will benefit both ways.

14 Jul CDC Event Results are up.

Pretty low turn out (51) due to the rain forecast.

Congrats Tommy on 4th FTD, after a Kart (!!!), a well driven Lingenfelter Corvette, and that damn Miata. Good Job Tommy. Unfortunately my 40.7 (6th FTD)wasn't counted as it was on a later run. Still, I placed very well for the amount of driving I've been doing lately (pulled 9th FTD with my 41.7 on my second AutoX, ever.) It was great seeing Uncoolron and The Calf out there.

Anyone aware of anything sooner than AX Inc or CDC on 11 August?

So how are you liking those wheels and tires I sold you?

I recommend the following events this coming weekend:

(1) Hershey Park --> http://myautoevents....sevent_id=13011

(2) Phillipsburg, PA (really far but fast SCCA course and two day event / "Cone Killer Classic") -->
http://www.motorspor...08A15D16A6C0D1A
Apparently you can camp on site, so I may (or may not) do that.

This airport course is what we get at national events. Can't stand Fedx Field since the setup is 180 degrees from this type of course that I prefer in the video above. Finally get to stiffen up the front sway bar and go to work racing on a fast and sweeping course

Noel!

Loving the wheels and tires, still rocking the RS3s as mounted by you. Many thanks.

Unfortunately I can't make either of those events. I'm military, and it takes an act of God for me to go farther than 100 miles without being on official leave (yes, I have to take vacation days on the weekend, in order to do whatever I want.)

I'm hoping to be able to make VMSC's school later this month. I did the Level 1 school with WDCR SCCA and wasn't impressed. (Probably would have been better if I could have stayed the whole day and had a different instructor for the afternoon... but again, the military stole my weekend due to the storms we had).
