Official JCH Service Rules Thread!
Forgive me if my typing is kind of shaky, I've been without the S since Saturday. After many less than optimum service experiences with Honda dealers in the area, I decided to take her in to Eddie at JCH.
It's been almost three years of "Big Grin" driving with no problems, but the Clutch Noise seemed to be getting louder, so I decided to get the Clutch TSB work performed. I called Eric the service manager last week and told him I wanted the TSB work done, along with the recalls. He said no problem, Ed would be working on her.
Yesterday I got a call asking how long I could leave the S because Ed wanted to install the second gear grind fix and the boot top cover needed to ordered overnight. Wow, obviously Ed knows his stuff to recommend the grind fix. Most other shops would have recommended something bogus like rotating the sprockets, but Ed zeroed in on what really needed to be fixed.
I had already planned for a week without her since it's Thanksgiving week and I new the clutch install and seatbelt recall were pretty involved. Without asking, they told me the S would be stored inside every night.
So my phase 1 report is glowing! The service department was very professional and confident. I could tell that they had a lot of experience with the S2000. They also knew where I was coming from as an S2000 owner. I have a whole different set of concerns and expectations dropping the S off for service, than when I drop the Odyssey off. So far, this has been a very refreshing experience. This has been the best phase 1 experience I've had with any dealer (including Acura) to date.
Stay tuned for my report on the rest of the service experience....

It was great talking with you and Andy on Saturday. It was a nice surprise, since I didn't know if you were going to be working at that time. I've had mostly mediocre to sub-par experience with service departments, starting with the service writers, that I wanted to let folks know JCH really is different. If I don't see you when I pick the S up, I'll see you at the S2000 clinic.
Good to hear that someone is having a good experience with a service dealership... I have experienced nothing short of nightmares with dealerships with my S in the past year (2 fender dents, a gouge to my rear bumper, scratched front spoiler, and more). I will make a point of it to navigate my servicing (and potentially sales) money to someone who knows and gives a damn...

Kevin - Glad that you're experience at JCH was a good one. Thanks for getting the word out and nice meeting you again on Saturday.
See you soon.
Read about our Platinum Plus Program at JCH. We'd like to sign as many people up as possible. Thanks.

OK, I know it's been a while, but here's the post service update....
I picked up the car several weeks ago. With the new clutch I can not believe how quiet the car is. As I row up and down through the gears, all I can hear is her singing to me that sweet siren song from her engine.
Apparently, there was a slight misunderstanding on my part and the second gear grind fix TSB was not performed (So just skip that part in my original post).
The seat belt recall was performed and other than the SRS light being lit (just a loose connect or and Eddie fixed that at the JCH clinic), I could not tell that any work had been done. That says volumes because the seat belt recall requires removing most of the interior, from the seats back.
The spark plug recall made a big difference. that car is much smoother through the VTEC engagement point. Overall the car feels stronger. I don't know how much of that is from the spark plugs and how much can be attributed to being able to hear more of the engine note.
Over all, I was very satisfied with the experience. All of the work I asked to be done was performed and performed well. When you are a car enthusiast, you want a service department that is made up of car enthusiasts. The service writers, Eric and Eddie all are enthusiastic about the S2000. Eddie really knows his stuff and does quality work.
Now if I could only convince these guys to take over the Honda dealership two blocks from my house....
