w1ngd1ng - how do you do that?
The actual PS1 games are 'for-purchase' D/Ls that run $4.99 each (Crash Bandicoot, Hot Shots Golf, and a few others currently available). You pay for the full PS1 D/Ls through setting your master account up with some $$$ tied to a bank acct, etc. I'm suspecting.
That was the general wording...but I ain't ready to give Sony access to my savings account quite yet. I'm plenty happy spending it myself thanks!
I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to find an amplifier for my subwoofer... The A/V receiver I have does not have a built in amp for the sub and just has a pre-out. From the searching I've done, I haven't been able to find any amps that fit my needs. Basically all I need is a 1 channel amp that puts out ~200-250W. The subwoofer I have is rated for 285W but I don't really need or care if I don't have it working at full power. Most amps for home setups that I have found are either really weak (75-120 W), are multichannel, or cost WAAYYY too much (in the couple of thousand dollar range).
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for any decent 1 channel amps for subwoofers?
Also, another idea I had, but haven't really researched yet, is taking an amplifier made for a car, and giving it 12v DC power using some power adapter. Is this something that could work or am I completely off and missing something?

What model subwoofer is it? Is it designed for home theater use or car use? Many home theater subs are already powered, but I've got some friends who built their own. One of the reasons I ask is that different subwoofers can have different ohm loads, which would affect the amp requirements.

I believe the subwoofer is rated at 6 ohms, but I'll double check to be sure.
Anyone thinking about buying a home a/v receiver with HDMI connections should hold off until after CES in January. Additionally, there are some interoperability issues with some of the "future-proof" receivers and other devices currently, not to mention that LFE boost(+10dB) over HDMI is not happening.
Naveed, I do not currently have an answer for your question. As Jeremy stated, most subs are self-powered these days, and it might be cheaper to just buy a small powered sub versus just buying the amp to power a sub. What are the dimensions of the room you are trying to fill?
