With my radio door cover filled with guages and the driver's visor gone to make room for the Street Pilot, I had few choices for placement of the VAFC. I ended up mounting under the dash near the driver's door, where my Smarttire monitor had been located (I moved it under the dash to the right of the steering wheel).

Finding a way to stash all the damned cabling so it didn't put a big bulge in the kick panel was the toughest part of the job. My neighbor, Nick Alban, master mechanic of Fall Colors fame, helped me out and and found a way to squeeze all that cable up under the ECU box, then found a way to get the kick panel back on with all that extra wire behind it.

Now all we have to do is find a place to tune the d**n thing!



I can see the VAFC readings very easily through the steering wheel. This shot approximates the view.

You just gave me an idea where I can install mine if I ever get one myself.

Have you been asking NY or NJ folks about where to tune your VAFC?
I was little shock that Altered Atmosphere was a major let down.
You may want to try Curry or just head north to any recommended place by NY or NJ folks.

Looks good Rick! I've had mine just about everywhere in the car and still can't make up my mind. I want to eventually have it mounted inside the passenger air bag compartment that mechanically opens...but until then.

If you find a place to get it tuned, let me know. Have you tried Curry's in Ashburn?

At the moment, a group tune is being considered, led by EJ. But there is no certain or clear consensus yet about where to do it. Curry's is the favorite at the moment. I'm going to start invesitgating tuners up our way. Check out this thread:
