little bump for this thread. Hope everyone has gotten some riding in, or at least some spinning inside. I've been bad over christmas but look forward to getting some time in at the gym once classes start again. Also picked up a frame for a good price and am slowly piecing together a bike!

Specialized Tarmac Comp
That bike is going to look nice... can't wait to see the finished product.

I'm unfortunately in the same boat as you as far as getting out and exercising a little bit... really haven't done much. When I go to the gym, I've been concentrating on calisthenics workout to build my shoulders, triceps, and chest since I found that they were getting overly fatigued when going up long, steep hills.

i finally got out over the weekend for a little ride at school. The temps were in the 30's but the wind wasn't bad. Let's try and plan a ride one of these weekends and get the first group ride in of the season.

living at school and decreased hours at work have lowered my already small budget. Once I save a bit more money I'll get a 27.2 carbon seat post, a seat, and pedals and my build will be complete.

I need to get a BB30 bracket tool, a cutting blade for the fork steerer and either make a headset bearing inserter or rent one. Then its putting it all together. I'll post up some pics of the stuff i've gotten so far, its so much nicer than my old ultegra 600 stuff!

As i need to relax from my research paper i thought i'd do a build thread on the bike i'm currently building.

I am slowly piecing together a road bike built around a 2010 Specialized Tarmac Comp painted in 2009 livery. The frame has the stronger and lighter carbon fiber of the 2010 model, but incorrectly painted in the older style, with a significantly cheaper price.
this what the frame looks like with the older 6600 SL Ultegra components

For wheels i picked up a new set of 6700 Ultegra tubeless rims. They are a bit heavier than the Dura-Ace, but are built similarly. It'll be nice to not have to change out inner tubes and hopefully cut down on some weight, especially compared to my current bike!

After a lot of research i decided on getting a set of the Sram Red Shifters. They shift both up and down the gears with just one lever, with only the distance used defining an up or down shift.

just got a new specialized team toupe 144mm saddle for a good price.

I decided on the Ultegra 6700 series compact crank in 34/50 tooth design. I really liked the look of the crank and for the money its a reliable relatively light setup. I also got the front derailleur, asymmetrical chain and 11-28 cassette. I will no longer be at such a disadvantage while climbing compared to my old school ultegra 600 8 speed setup.

I have a few more things to do to get the bike complete, but it should be done over the next few months. It's amazing the deals you can find on brand new showroom removed stuff off eBay and other bike sites. I'll post up more stuff when i've actually taken pics of my stuff.
