it does have a mild calming/sedative to it. that's why you see people smoke alot under stressful situations, etc.

I'd say it has a very calming affect. If you have never smoked before, and you inhale a few drags, it will hit you like a ton of bricks. Very addicting. Problem is that like any drug or chemical added to your body, the body will get used to it. It then takes more and more to get the same rush (or high or whatever). Eventually you smoke to just feel normal. I quit cold turkey over 10 years ago. Used to smoke 2 packs a day.

Hard to believe cigarettes are still legal. You'd think they could make a safer, non-smokable form of nicotine. In some sort of inhaler form. This would get rid of a lot of the bad consequences of smoking (lung and throat cancer, emphasyma, etc). You'd still have an elevated blood pressure, but at least it would be safer.

i never tried quitting, but i really want to. when i go out with people who don't like smoke, girls especially, is when i can string together the longest amounts of time between cigarettes. but as soon as i drop them off i have 2 to make up for lost time.

here is my schedule:

1. when i wake up
2. after breakfast
3. after lunch
4. 4:20
5. after work
6. possibly before dinner
7. after dinner
8. after sitting on the pot
9. possibly right before bed

if i could get this list down to just after meals i would be happy. i have currently stopped the "right when i wake up cigarette"

my goal is to cut down the to eventually quit, with only occaisional cigarettes every now and then.
