Concealing your Pistol

You might want to clarify that statement. It sounds awfully like a veiled threat to me.
CBeyond - I read your post before you deleted it and understand why you did. But to address a point I believe the practice of owning a gun in the US is not primarily to shoot an attacker, nor to overthrow a government. It is to establish a level of equality between and attacker or oppressive power as a deterent. The idea being the atacker and regime will think twice before commiting a crime/injustice if they know the populace is armed. Sort of like a micro-arms race or stalemate.
I'm sure (or at least I hope) that most people who carry arms in the US would consider having to actually use them a great shame. Is that correct?

She is merely stating that if you ever do decide to visit the United States you may want to bring a pistol since it is "such a such a bad place to live" as it seems you are putting it. We wouldnt want you to walk around in fear you know.

You know, it is so dangerous over here. Wouldn't want you to get in a situation to where you wished you had a gun.
Correct me if I'm wrong but guns are a deterrent to petty attacks. So if someone is going to attack me they are probably going to be packing. I don't see how me having a gun also is going to diffuse a situation.

Don't use quotes when you aren't quoting. I never said where you live is dangerous; you did, as justification for carrying a gun.
