AusS2000, I think you are getting all this heat because of your attitude toward the US. It is you condescending tone used of the term "Pity."

You gun-lovers really are one trick ponies. When are you going to understand that I am not opposed to your gun laws? So there is no point in coming back to me with the pro-gun argument. I agree with you; you have the right to bare arms and the right to arm bears for all I care.

My statement is simple and I challenge anyone to disagree with it. I wish we lived in a world where we didn't feel fear everytime we stepped out of the house.

None of us really do, but I can tell you the paranoia level here is much lower than the places you guys are talking about and for that I am glad for me and pity you. Simple as that.
Hmmmmm, I beg to differ, but let's agree to disagree on some points. I am all in favor of Zanadoo, but let's be real. The world is not a safe place. There are people all over this world that envy the freedoms and the things we have, for that they hate us. They didn't hate our asses when we were saving them, or teaching them to drill holes in the ground and finding BLACK GOLD, now did they? So for what ever hateful reason those pricks dislike us, we must be ready. Yes the US is full of mean, evil people, that is what happens in an open society... we don't close our borders to visitors, newcomers, etc.

Anyway, I agree that you and I should live in peace and a safe world. I just doubt it will ever happen in my lifetime.

Mark

I carry mine in my boot when I have them on. I have a nice little holster. When I am in shorts I keep it between the seat and the door in a nice little case. I have a permit to carry it , and do 90% of the time. I keep a lock box in my trunk to store it so I can run into stores where they are not permitted. I think it is great you are trying to be safe and protecting your occupants from getting in trouble. When I got stopped last time they seamed to know I had my gun asked to see my lic, showed it to them and they let me on my way. I love the fact I can carry a gun in this fine state of Texas. Now for all the people form CA they can bite the big one. Carry your guns, make sure you support the NRA, Keep a lock on it, and it locked in a small safe when you do not have it in your direct body. There is nothing better the using your right to own arms.

Ok, but I'm not sure what we are disagreeing on. I agree you need guns up the wazoo. I agree you live in a place with fear and paranoia (justified that is) and I agree that it isn't going to change quickly.

Fortunately I think you paint a far too altruistic image of the US's foreign policy so we might have something there to agree to disagree on. But then I don't particularly have a problem with many of the US's motives for it's foreign policy. "They did it for their own gains!" Sure, but doesn't that makes sense? Sorry, can't really draw me on that one either.

Read my post you quoted again, and your response to it. Your response to it is a prime example of what my post is about. Your inability to realise that I agree with you. Your continual attempts to argue a point I don't disagree with.

Bring a gun if you change your mind and decide to come on over.

You might want to clarify that statement. It sounds awfully like a veiled threat to me.
