Yes this can easily happen with Paypal. I had it happen to me personally.

Although I do have a interesting good experience happening right now. I put a ad for my carbon fiber motorcycle exhaust in Craiglist orange county and a person in AZ found my ad. He sent me a personal check and I made sure it was from a bank I had close by in Cali. I then cashed his check at his bank. I guess I sound like a honest guy in emails, which i am! haha

like the guy above me said...they just file a claim with paypal and paypal pulls back the funds and gives them back to the sender...typically no questions asked.
word, so what scamming sellers do, is they create a paypal account, and as soon as they get the money in that paypal account, they transfer it to a bank account, and then withdraw it from the bank and close the bank account and paypal account, that way nothing can be reversed

When I attempted to sell my MacBook - I had it up for like 800 on CL. I would get e-mails (scams) like -

"I'll giv u 1200 for it plus 300 shiping. The paypal address to make payment I need so we can transact."

These people are complete ratards. 400 over what I was asking? plus another 300 for shipping?!

I know it's not their money - and it's not real at all. But I mean seriously, if you want to scam someone at least try to make it believable.

Craigslist sales should always be local and cash only. Even local cash sales...a few people are weary about that. Just be very cautious.

So many scammers on craigslist wanting to send you checks, make online transactions, money orders....etc. Never agree to any of those, especially when they throw in a crazy ass story.

Mother dying from a bridge accident in England. Father died from a plane crash heading to Africa...I've gotten so many replies.
